Every country wants/needs allies, be it Pakistan or India.
But in these ever changing dynamics of world politics, overtly being dependent on a particular ally can be a problem. Infact why go near Pakistan in that regard, we indians realized it while dealing with Russia(former Soviet Union), the defense contracts were no were at those near generous prices as earlier. So self reliance is a key factor. I agree that Pakistan was kind of dependent on this whole aid thing from the US or any other country. Problem with this being, there was never a pressing need to bring those sweeping economic reforms.But the establishment in Pakistan has already realized that, and i am of the opinion that very soon they will be on a path of self reliance.
