This has got to be the coolest app I have on my phone. (OK, one of the coolest :D)
SO upon recommendation, I installed the app a few hours ago. Just tried using it a few minutes ago.
After installing it on my phone, I received an email with a long list of commands to control Cerberus remotely. I logged into www.cerberusapp.com from my laptop and tried some of the features. It showed me a map of my exact location, which was pretty cool. Then I asked it to display my call logs, sms logs, take a picture (which it did and emailed it to me). There’s a whole bunch of other stuff I can do such as wipe the SD card, reboot device, lock device, start an alarm with a message…etc.
A couple of features require your phone to be rooted, and it’s a 1 week free trial. After that you buy it for Euros 2.99. I think it’s worth it considering you can really track and control your phone in case it gets misplaced or stolen.
You can also make it go undercover (need root) so if your phone is stolen the thief won't even know its on there. You can set up screen lock with patterns and what not. Every failed attempt can take a picture of whoever is using the phone (there are some pervy uses for this as well ;)).
You can also trigger audio to turn on remotely, or take a picture from a different place etc etc. The possiblities are endless :D
I got this app when it came out and got a free license from the developer. So I'm not complaining.
I seems like a perfect app to have on your phone. Forget about it being stolen, but some folks (let me not take names here, but their GS nick start with T, middle initial L and last K) forget where they keep their wallet and glasses and phone. And if their phone is on vibrate/silent then u can't find it forever, or the whole family drops everything and is looking for it. Now I wish this app could do a location within your home, but it has happened that we've been out of the home and this person I talk about didn't remember if he left it at work or home. So we could have located it using this app :D! Well now we can.
My older daughter has a hand me down iPhone. If I read correctly, Cerberus for iPhones doesn't have the same features but there's a bunch of other apps that do the same thing. I will be looking into those soon.
