I do not understand the concept of Ceramic/ Tourbaline Straigthners/Flat Irons.. what are they? Apparently a friend told me if you have ceramic plates on your flat iron, your not burning your hair.. but isn’t heat, heat? No matter what you have on there.. isnt heat burning/ruining/not protecting your hair anyways?
Re: Ceramic/ Tourbaline Straigthners/Flat Irons
WELL these days the plates most straighteners are made of solid ceramic or at least ceramic coated.
Tourmaline is just one of many other materials that can be incorporated into or coated onto the ceramic to improve the performance of the straighteners in regards to the process or results e.g. more even heat transfer, less snagging, smoother hair, shinier hair.
Some straighteners are going to be better for your hair but yes at the end of the day heat is heat and with continued use the condition of your hair will deteriorate - more dry and therefore more breakage, more frizzy etc. It always helps to use heat protection products.
