centre of attention

(woops the thread title is center “of” attention)

how to do deal with it?

as much as i like talking and being sociable, i HATEEE being the center of attention.. even on my birthday, id rather someone else cut the cake and i sing them happy birthday.. i just cant do it..

but ive been pre-warned.. this year its my year…

so how does one cope with it? do u get used to attention after sometime? how do u take it without seeming snobbish and proud.. or in my case, totally shy… ?

p.s and i probably spelt “center” wrong.. i think its “centre”

Re: center or attention

center is ok in american english
centre works with british english
if u wanna say it in hindi, its “kendra”

see how kendra Ξ centre??? khair thats me hijacking another thread :smack:

Re: center or attention

hahaha ok :) yeap.. i think we go with british english here, hence the reason why i dont ever know the right spelling

Re: centre of attention

waesay getting back to ur original topic.. the solution depends on whether u are a guy or a girl... if u are a guy go ahead and cut the cake.. don feel shy abt it or something cos its the one of the few rare moments when u get public attention.. if u are girl u shud feel shy cos u get attention all the time (from most men and some women :D) so limelight se hat jao and kissi aur ko katne do.. and dont eat the cake too cos u will add on a few pounds..

Re: centre of attention

Bless you sadzzz -

I’m not much of a heart of the party person either, i’m happy finding a corner with a couple of people i know. But this “center of attention” of yours sounds like wedding bells to me  Take it with chin up and a smile. Let things take their course and enjoy every moment of it, cocentrate on the small things that happen along the way and find happiness in them. And as for the snobbish and proud part, don’t fret over it. As long as you know in your heart and mind that you aren’t being proud or snobbish, then it’s all good, we can’t please everyone.

Re: centre of attention

thanks sehar :flower2:

haha yeap  im trying to deal with it. My mums been giving me lectures in regarding to ridding myself of this shyness.. but i guess its all quite new at the moment, hence having difficulty…

as a teen i used to be arrite with it, didnt mind the occassional attention, but i always had someone with me, who’d have equal part.. hmm come to think of it, i do now too.. lekin it just makes it all the more nerve wrecking.. hehe..

thanks though

hahaha desibanda, i’ll try my best not to eat the cake

Re: centre of attention

Just to add people enjoy good attention, like your b-day or you did well in a test or a promotion. Individuals hate bad attention.

Re: centre of attention

i dont like either kind.. sure its nice to be remembered and stuff and made to feel special.. but in public? aaagh

Re: centre of attention

I like good attention, and I'm always been the center of attention wherever I was, for some reason or the other my name woudl come up. tis God's Divine favours that make you stand out in a crowd...and if you're know for your goodness, then so much the better.
