Conservative Hindus are at it. Forced Penguin Books India Ltd to withdraw and destroy all copies of “The HINDUS: An Alternative History” by U Chicago historian Wendy Doniger. Their beef? Doniger described Hindu texts as fictional and sexualized their content.
The article in WSJ. FEB 12 quotes Doniger as saying Indian law makes it a criminal offense to publish a book that offends any Hindu.

I thought India is secular country.
I’m sure somewhere in this world, Hindu fundamentalists are kicking themselves hard as vast majority of Indians and the worldwide audience hadn’t even heard about this book nor the author, and now it’s a guaranteed international best seller. My friend has already ordered her copy and of course, Penguin and the lady is laughing all the way to the bank.
I would have liked to think that people by now must’ve figured the magic formula: If you want public to not read a particular book, do not ban it or even attempt burning it.

its a small law. Even capital punishment is better then fisad/fitna.
Fitna cause lost of many lives.
First you bring level of tolerance and intellect of population to certain level, then you can take pride
in things as free speech. Not other way around. You don’t go from free speech to better level of tolerance.
And free speech never help any one learning any thing any ways, so It wont play part of developing
intellect of masses.
