Celtic + Pakistani

Okay, so speaking of Medieval Pundits (who aren’t so medieval after all beyond the names they give their musical pieces)…what if someone were to combine

celtic music + urdu

or celtic music + pakistani folk music,

etc.?

and I know that medieval and celtic are not the same thing! Celtic just came into my mind when I saw "medieval"

Celtic is more Ashley MacIsaac style ... lots of violins ... strongly Irish. Celtic music can be quite melodious and beautiful. I can't see Urdu lyrics being sung over music by The Chieftans or The Corrs.

yes, i think it'd be quite difficult to fit in urdu music over celtic style.
Imagine singing classical music in English. Just wont sit in.

I love Celtic music. Would be interesting to hear that mix. I don't think it would go to well though given that the melodies of both forms of music are quite different. Then again, who knows, it might.

but why go through this much trouble in the first place?

You could probably play pak folk on medieval european instruments though it’d be limited in range.. but I don’t know about crossing the melodies and lyrics… :mudhosh:

Now if you’re just trying to come up with odd combos, howsabout urdu and zydeco or bluegrass :hehe:

I love celtic music too Fret. Heck, I am even a fan of River Dance and Lord of the Dance! Irish music is fantastic. Have you heard the soundtrack for Braveheart? Amazing celtic music .... I think a lot of the tracks were done by The Chieftans.

Absolutely Mehnaz, I own the soundtrack to Braveheart and it is incredible. Yes some were done by The Chieftans, and many of the compositions were done by the composer James Horner.

The Braveheart soundtrack in indeed very good. So is another one that has some awesome music on it given to me by a dear friend.

:flower2:

I only have a few pieces on my computer…but I have heard others. Celtic music is absolutely beautiful.

I agree that it would be an interesting mix…too bad we can’t ask someone to attempt it :bummer:
