HTC Desire is booming up nice tooo
But i actually tested that phone personally and played a song from Youtube via WIFI
either it was a problem of that particular set , but the sound was bad - phaati howi aa rahi thee 
which made my dil bad from that set.

You played “a” song from youtube. There can be many reason. Maybe that uploader of that song has put it up with bad quality, or any other. May be the one you told. I was at T-Mobile Service center and started to talk with the guy about the phones as I want to get one of my Nokia n82 checked. He also know well about iPhone4 problem and was talking about his preferences regarding the devices on the market and regarding what people are liking to get now. Its HTC Desire. The only thing he himself didnt like was that its from Google

i also played a built in Music audio File previously
finding it not that nice - i tried a vedio file from youtube - same
khair - Might have to do with that specific set tooo..

^ have you tried Sony Xperia? it looks quite good but the performance is not as smooth as iphone like there is lag when you are browsing pictures etc but over all its solid…
Since its a gift i think you should go for iPhone 3GS cause brand matters…

I would still say go for iPhone especially since its a gift for a girl it may not be unique but it still has ‘status’ attached to it especially in Pak
if a girl gets an iPhone:
Girl: My bf/fiancé/husband gave me a new phone
Friend: acha! kon sa model hai?
Girl: iPhone hai
Friend: Acha wow he must really love you…
if any other model:
Girl: My bf/fiancé/husband gave me a new phone
Friend: acha! kon sa model hai?
Girl: HTC/Samsung…
Friend: Acha never heard of it… xyz ke finace ne tau us ko iPhone diya hai…

Anything shiny without any real value will work. I’d say, buy the cheapest phone available and paint it in gold or silver and she will be happy.
