Celebrity Championship Wrestling: Hulk Hogan's new pet project

CMT ran the first episode of Hulk Hogan’s CCW. So the idea of the show is that they (Hogan, Bischoff and Jimmy Hart) have selected 10 contestants/celebrities and they will be put through 8 weeks of training. Each week, they will be taught moves by the trainers and the contestants have to put those moves together in a match.

Brutus Beefcake (from WWF days) and Brian “The Nasty” Knobbs are two trainers, each assigned to one team. There are three heels and two faces selected from each team and teams compete within themselves. Heels from team A are on one corner and faces from team A are in the other corner. Similarly, heels from team B face “faces” from team B.

The first week, each contestant are taught three basic wrestling moves.

  1. First week was the kick to the gut (Dennis Rodman kicked Bonaduce ‘below the gut area’ which looked painful)

  2. Smashing forearm on the opponent’s back after the kick to the gut (or as Michael Cole put it “What a right arm”).

  3. The clothesline

The crowd are all ‘plants’. They are given “CCW” signs and are obviously told to get the show hyped up. Every contestant has his/her own sign in the crowd.

One of the women (Trishelle?) interviewed initially said that she has a lot of respect for the wrestling business but has never actually ‘seen’ wrestling. I thought she would be the first one to go. She had trouble getting down after the clothesline.

By the way, they already shot the last episode of the show and someone is the CCW Champion. Too bad we will find out at the end of the season.

Re: Celebrity Championship Wrestling: Hulk Hogan’s new pet project

:hmmm:
another Fake Reality show…

You can’t tell me I wasted an entire hour not knowing it is a fake reality show. There has to be a reality somewhere in there. WWE would not be a multi-billion dollar industry today had it not been for fake reality shows every week, two of them in fact. Add in weekend house shows.

But Hogan’s show which used to run on MTV titled “Hogan Knows Best” and his latest pet project are simply money-makers for him. With his son Nick recently gotten his jail time short, divorce with Linda and his daughter in the showbiz, Hulkster can only do these things for so long.

in fact … 3 of them :hehe:
u forgot ECW :snooty:

I will stop watching it now.

Re: Celebrity Championship Wrestling: Hulk Hogan's new pet project

So from week 2's episode aired on CMT:

The participants were taught three new wrestling moves,

1) Headlock Takedown

2) Schoolboy

3) Shoulder Tackle

Bonaduce takes off from training and does his radio show. In fact, he skips training altogether. However, he comes back after his show and learn the moves quickly.

Before any of the moves were taught, the contestants are required to jump 30 feet off scaffolding onto a giant inflatable stunt pad. Looks pretty basic to me. All they had to do was jump with back facing the mat. However, they were not taught the "proper" way to jump and Trishelle, Erin Murphy and I think someone else too landed horribly wrong. They landed on their feet from 30 feet which was bad.

Frank Stallone was the only one who did not jump. Afraid of heights. Frank had second and third thoughts and decided to just step down. Oh well, moving on to the show.

So when the program started, Erin Murphy was shown just dishing out somewhat logical arguments to Bonaduce/Butterbean/Rodman. She asked why they did not just do those three moves they were taught on week 1 but they decided to do more. To which Erin ended up on the losing team last week and one of the contestants was let go.

The tag team matches were just meh.

The hottest picks in the ring left to be fired at the end of the episode were Erin and Frank Stallone. They let Frank go and I think Trishelle will be out soon. Erin might be retained to spice up the programming further.
