SRINAGAR: Residents in ‘Indian administered’ Kashmir Sunday fired crackers in the region’s main city after Pakistan beat Sri Lanka to win the World Twenty20 championship, witnesses said.
Srinagar erupted in celebration after Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by eight wickets and as scores of Kashmiri youth poured on to the streets and lit firecrackers.
The youths also chanted pro-Pakistan and pro-freedom slogans as Indian paramilitary troops stayed in their bunkers, witnesses said.
Thousands of Kashmiris, including women and children, were glued to their televisions sets to watch the tense final.
‘It is a great victory and one day I hope we will merge with Pakistan,’ said a die-hard Pakistani cricket fan, Mohammad Yaseen.
Residents in Muslim-majority Kashmir valley traditionally support Pakistan in sports events.
the win just keeps on getting betha and betha. :jhanda:
ohh all kashmiris are a big fan of pakistani team..whenever there was india pakistan cricket match,we almost used to have no traffic on roads..everybody used to be sooo busy watching the match..even in classes my batchmates would bring radios with them and listen to commentary in between lectures..and even those kashmiris who are supporters of India somehow end up being pakistani supporter during India pakistani cricket matches :)
How many Kashmiri ` jubilations' we have seen .................
Even after a million years,Kashmir will remain India's Kashmir :)
million years....kashmir only became India's 60 years ago...before that it was the British....the Mughals...then Gengis Khan...then Persians....then Arabs....then Alexander the Great....etc...
