The Flag Skydiver! :jhanda:
Guys, patriotism knows no bounds and throughout history the love for one’s country has often taken mankind to the limits-the limits of physical exertion, personal sacrifice and at times patriotic expression.
Some of you may have recently come across a few video clips on Google of a young **Pakistani **guy jumping off planes and helicopters with the Pakistani flag. The clips leave you mesmerized by the daring act, the beautiful unfurling of the national flag gripped tight and the appropriate background score-an immediate blood rush and waves of patriotic emotions suddenly give you goosebumps!
This is how much we all love our Pakistan, that’s how high we ought to take it and that’s how firmly and responsibly we will hold on to it, protect it and celebrate Pakistan and being Pakistani.
Paklinks has the honour of having amongst its many valuable members a brilliant addition; we introduce the very jumper from those videos, now quite a celebrity, Mr Yasir Ali!
Yasir has taken celebrating national days to a whole new level and what better way for us to celebrate the Independence Week at Paklinks with a look at his videos, learning a bit about him in his own words, and getting to share views with him right here.
For those interested in Sky Diving or private flying, Yasir could be an excellent source of info and guidance.
So please welcome Yasir Ali i.e. **pakistani_skydiver **on Paklinks.
“My name is Yasir Ali, born raised and educated in Lahore.
After 1st Year of BSc I moved To New York. Here I got into the jewelry business and studied at GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and studied diamonds and graduated in Diamond Grading which is very helpful in my business.
As far as my hobby is concerned, it was my dream ever since I was a kid.
I always wanted to fly and skydive. But as you know it is not possible for an average person to fulfill those dreams unless you join the army or air force but I was always discouraged to even try to join air force or army since it was a common misconception that if you don’t have links or approach to authorities you can’t really get into air force or army even if you can pass exams.
Living here in the States I got the opportunity to skydive and fly planes! I haven’t got my pilot license yet; I need few more flying hours and to take the test.
I started skydiving in 1997 and even though I am always busy with work I still get a chance to jump few times a month. So far I have jumped little over 500 jumps!
My jumps include my skydive form a variety of planes, helicopters and hot air balloons and I have jumped 5 times with the Pakistani flag.
I had a chance once to jump with a huge Pakistani flag like the army personnel jump on national days, but I didn’t like the idea of hanging my country’s flag below my feet so I choose to jump only in free fly which I think was done 1st time by a Pakistani.
I hold a D license from USPA (United States Parachute Association). I have jumped in both popular deciliter free fly and RW (Relative Work). I have jumped in few large formations and the biggest I jumped was a 28 ways, if time permits I’ll be jumping in more and bigger formations. I also want to go for my Coach Rating so I can also teach skydiving.
Hopefully I’ll be jumping this coming week with the Pakistani flag on Pakistan’s Independence Day!
I wish more and more Pakistanis come to this sport since we all know Pakistanis have got unmatchable talent in almost every field, the only thing we are lacking in our country is the opportunities and the honest, sincere leadership.
If I ever get a chance to get into Pakistani Politics I’ll not hesitate to get involved and I’ll make sure our talented proud youngster get chance to prove themselves.
And last but not least no matter where any Pakistani lives he or she is always proud of their origin (Pakistan) and has unconditional love for their country.
