Re: Celebrating Easter
Well I dont mind really. Easter kind of contradicts the Islamic version of events and some of my Work colleagues who are quite Religous people first found it hard to understand the notion that Hazrat Isa Ru Allah was never crucified in the first place. But we all respect each others viewpoint and to be honest its made some interesting discussions.
On the whole I dont really think i will be taking part actively in any of the celebrations certianly I wont be attending all the special services throghout Easter and nor will I be lucky enough to go on any Easter Egg hunts etc.
However I wont mind if others want to enjoy themselves and today was a great Easter Sunday the weather was nice and unlike last year there was no trouble in Town and the day went very well even if I was part of a Job that is 24/7 without any official Holiday during the Year. ![]()
Re: Celebrating Easter
I think an egg hunt/ games are lame, not to mention a complete waste of eggs. Instead, enjoy the unlimited amount of candy choices presented to you by companies. And like X2 said, the sales the following Monday:sadiyah: .
Re: Celebrating Easter
The sales are awesome
The candies are yummy
Okay, the thing is..................Easter egg hunts and the Easter bunny have nothing to do religiously with Easter. Its like the Christmas tree that was a German cultural tradition and eventually spread throughout the world...it has nothing to do with Christmas.
It cannot be compared to praying namaz or Eid because no one goes to Mass or attends Easter service.
You know what bugs me? People go up in arms when it comes to gora-traditions thinking desies are trying to act like white people. But desies themselves all over the world are living and thriving on borrowed traditions!
Pakistanis have no issues acting like Hindu people they dont even live with but have a ton of issues with people naturally integrating into the country they call home.
There's no logic whatsoever.
Re: Celebrating Easter
hey patakha phorring on shab e baraat is our religious duty!!!!!
how dare you ma'am ....how dare you..
Re: Celebrating Easter
i don’t get why anyone would go out of their way to celebrate a holiday they aren’t even accustomed to or traditionally celebrate
why is it such an issue. participating in certain cultural activities pertaining to the holiday or the time of the year is inevitable.
oh and if we are talking about wannabe blond aunties…then they’re a diff issue all together ; )
Re: Celebrating Easter
One more thing.........
Why would anyone say a single thing about Easter or Christmas when ALL of Pakistan celebrates Basant?
Re: Celebrating Easter
god Ishtar or Easter, fertility goddess of Babylon…so all this easter thingee is a pagan belief.
lol…so eating easter egg is any less than eating niaz? ![]()
Re: Celebrating Easter
Eating niyaz is very different from eating an Easter egg. Easter egg pe koi parh ke damm nahin karta. Come to think of it, I dont know anyone who actually eats them. People just hide them and hunt them for fun.
I dont put up Christmas trees or go on hunts but I think its ridiculous to point fingers at people who do.
Re: Celebrating Easter
when ALL of Pakistan celebrates Basant?
That is totally incorrect.
Re: Celebrating Easter
That is totally incorrect.
Oops...sorry...its only in Punjab. So tell us NomiCA about Basant and why people celebrate it.
Re: Celebrating Easter
Its an issue though isnt it? Duniya jahan ki harkatein karengay...but put up a Christmas tree or paint an Easter egg and all of a sudden we have the Anti-Kuffaar Brigade jumping up and down.
Hindus arent Kuffaar? Imitating them isnt wrong? Only goray are going to Hell? Desies arent allowed in Jahannum?
Re: Celebrating Easter

Its not celebrated in punjab either....there was only a kite-flying festival.....which alhamdulillah is no longer practiced.
Re: Celebrating Easter
When did it stop?
OH and why stop there? Have you seen the Valentine’s Day specials and Mother’s Day tributes all over Pakistani TV? Hmm?
That is also the influence of the kuffaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar! La hawwwl…![]()
Tawba tawba…Musalman hokay ye harkatein…![]()
Re: Celebrating Easter

it was banned because of safety issues, not because of any religious reasons.
Re: Celebrating Easter

yea..obviously......just telling its no longer practiced thats all.....the old basant festival of spring season wasn't practiced anyways (in villages n stuff)....... it was limited only to kite-flying, which has been banned too.....
..
Re: Celebrating Easter
Yes, it did. Its an Indian celebration marking the beginning of Spring.
Re: Celebrating Easter
Reha come on now......i don't give a rats behind about Easter or not......i was just correcting you about the celebration of basant......
direct your stuff to the 'opposers'
Re: Celebrating Easter
Its not just directed at you Nomi...its a question I have for anyone who can answer it.
Desi people that come from Pakistan to America are no different from the Chinese or Italians doing the same.
Re: Celebrating Easter
Two wrongs don't make a right. Just because Pakistanis celebrate basant, mehendi, mayoun, doesn't mean it is justified that they bring home a statue of Ganesha on Diwali! Yes, we're big fat hypocrites if we adapt certain aspects of the "kuffar" culture and reject others but what's wrong is wrong.
