Celebrating Birthdays!

Re: Celebrating Birthdays!

I responded to her comment.

back to the topic. I have seen people quoting verses from holy Quran on the importance of birthdays. 19:15 and 19:33
what do you guys think ?

Re: Celebrating Birthdays!

Peace kchughati,

I think these verses doesn't says about celebration of birthday.

Re: Celebrating Birthdays!

I don't care what's going on in someone's heart as long as they are not acting like holier than thou and going all Arab on me. Better bring a clear verse or hadith instead of made up stories from Fazail e Amal.

Re: Celebrating Birthdays!

Lady when some issue is not clear in Quran and Hadees we do Ijtihad and according to Ijtihad of majority of great Scholars Birthdays should not be celebrated in fact it is reminder for us that we have become more close to death and HAZRAT MUHAMMAD SAW not his Sahabas never celebrated their birthdays

Re: Celebrating Birthdays!

similarly, anyone who deny celebrating the birthday of Prophet(s.a.w) would be labeled as gustakh e Rasool(s.a.w) by brelvis.

Re: Celebrating Birthdays!

what is so wrong with being closer to one's own death?
doesn't that mean less time to commit sins?

Re: Celebrating Birthdays!

There is nothing wrong in celebrating birthdays, as long as we dont do fuzool kharchi, no show off, and use that event to invite other families to come and eat with us. Islam, for all that matters, encourages people to give each other dawat for meal. Birthday could just be used as bahana for that. Plus, we can always do shukar to allah that he gave us yest another year of life and pray for more.

We should stop complicating Islam, its already complicated enough for simpletons like me. Dont make it more difficult than it needs to be, please

Re: Celebrating Birthdays!

Peace akmoti,

‘Sunnah’ is the same act as our beloved Prophet Muhammad :saw2: did or ordered us to do. In simple words yes celebrating birthdays is not sunnah not even close to the sunnah.
