CD recovery?

I have this CD that is quite scratched. There was material on it before. It took a while for the computer to actually load the CD and for me to access it. It now says that the CD contains 0 items.

Is there any way I can recover the information on it, or is it gone forever?

Re: CD recovery?

try Isobuster... put your cd in. run this software and it will open your cd with the possible data in it. I hope it will be helpful...

then take the backup of the data and burn it on a new disk

Re: CD recovery?

aaho

do as aaho said

Re: CD recovery?

CD must've been in a very bad condition. Couldn't get anything out of it. It did recover the file names/type, but the files won't open/run. Now I'm worried if inserting that CD and leaving it in all afternoon would've done any damage to the CD/DVD drive.

Re: CD recovery?

^ not likely

Is it a CDRW? are u able to write anyting on the CD?

Re: CD recovery?

you know what there are also no natural solution to recover the cd... but you can try them as a last resort..... (IF YOU REALY CANT LIVE WITHOUT THAT DATA)

Try to read the cd with some another DVD / CD ROM.. try more than two or as many as possible. If not then......

--> Please note. Do the following at your own risk and money :p . I am and will be not to be taken as responsible for any kind of Damage to you or to the things around you or to your PC or else

Solution:
Take the cd and just put the silicon side [Data side] of the cd under water (I am not joking). then take a fine tissue and dry with it... try after that... if it works fine... if dont then take a lil just very little oil.. I mean cooking or hair oil. [May be two drops will be enough] and using a tissue spread it over [Over the data side] and try again I am sure it will work...

Now some funny part :
even if then it doesnt work then in EVERY prayer ask Allah to help you... ya phir cd ko char panch sunaeen shayed sharam aa jaey :D*

Re: CD recovery?

TRY
EDITING THE CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: CD recovery?

there is also some desi totakas for harddisk :p

khair do it as your last option and dont run it again and again it can damage the lens of your ROM if you run it more times... as the lens try to read the cd as far as possible....

Re: CD recovery?

I 've put CD in water many times, but that cooking oil thing is bit strange

Would it make it any smoother or easier to read after cleaning with water?..I don’t think so; or if anyone has any reasoning on it, plz do share.

Re: CD recovery?

Sadiyah, have you tried out those cd repair kits? I personally haven’t used any but others have. Here’s one on Amazon:

Re: CD recovery?

no no no I know how to fix this! Listen!

Ya have to put it in the freezer! I’m not making this up, I promise! We were watching a DVD movie once and it kept skipping so my cousin said to put it in the freezer for a little bit and I was like . But I did it and after 20 minutes I took it up and wiped it off with my shirt kinda and put it in the DVD player and BAZZZAM! It played just fine! :phati:

Re: CD recovery?

löl may be though I havent googled it for the physical resoning..

about putting oil is just like to fill the crack / scraches so that the lens dont have to increase the reading length again and again to offer a smooth balanced surface for equal and easy reading of CD data.

Re: CD recovery?

thats not the DVD… this freezing tech is mainly used for Hard disk when its head get melted due to too much data accessing and hitting disk surface again and again…

though it is only used to recover data. I mean freez the HD and then put it into PC and recover the data as much fast as possible, before its head get melted again.

I am NOT SURE whats the tech reason of putting a DVD / CD in freezer to access it.
