hi guys,
right now iam learning CCNA(security) along with linux(RHCE)
i dunno weather go ahead with CCNP or go with cheackpoint security (CCSA),also is it required to learn CCNA voice before going for CCNP or basic CCNA and security will do?

CCNA voice is not required to do CCNP.
It also depends which CCNP track you want to do?

I got my CCNA last year and I am going ahead with the CCNP ROUTE, TROUBLESHOOT, and SWITCHING certs,. To me CCNP is worth getting before you even try anything else because the CCNA is just the tip of the iceberg, CCNP goes way more in depth. I would rather work on making my skills stronger before I even think about tackling Cisco Security.

I think you should go with CCNP, its worth it along with security. I am an EX CCIE lost my certification 2003-2004 did not bother to recertify. Now I manage an R&D lab, most of our development work is on VoIP and security.
Back than it use to be lot of fun working with routers and switches after so long I don’t even remember how to login

Just CCNA is not even worth it anymore. I don’t think you can even get a job based on just that. Get atleast a CCNP. But always have ur sights on the next step. And specialize, don’t stay on neutral grounds.

AFTER iam done with ccna security have to start ccnp parallel with my ongoing RHCE(LINUX 6.0) .it’s been 2years since my engineering is completed
once get a job will think about ccnp security in weekends

Hi,
Especially when security started to become hot several years ago, the lack of basic networking skills amongst security professional was a problem. Not sure how that’s nowadays, but CCNP goes much further than the basics. It’s a specialist cert, and you don’t need to go ‘that’ far for the CCSP. But, it will add value to your resume, it can open doors more easily, and it may make the road to becoming a security pro easier, as in being able to get a job as a CCNP first. One usually doesn’t roll into a security job without having filled other roles, such as networker, first. So it can be *very *useful, but knowledge and skills-wise CCNP is a bit overkill for CCSP (why Cisco requires CCNA and not CCNP for CCSP). Note that CISSP requires 4 years full-time experience as an infosec pro (or 3 years + masters degree). So that’s not one to get into the security field, more to advance it the security field.

i think i have decided to go CCNP route
need to complete security part ,finished with basic CCNA,was thinking about ccsa along with basic ccna for immediate job purpose.
guess i have time till december to do ccnp fast track
