yes
i know its shocking to compare catwalk (female AND male catwalk) with cattle walk or cattle show. I have often asked myself this question because to the West its women liberation that they can do this catwalking. To me only difference is that women/male get to paid money and cattles don’t.
Fashion designers use models (male/female) to demonstrate clothing and accessories during a fashion show. I wonder wether there is no other way to demonstrate clothings and accessories? We hear so many stories of model that they are being used/abused and sexually harrassed to make promotion or climb up the ladder in the fashion industry.
Yet this industry is seen as glamerous and exclusive. Hundreds and millions of dollars is spent on models. Is it justifyable that when you get paid millions then its ok to sell your flesh.
Is there any difference between “lady of pleasure” who is STREET WALKING to attract customers and models who also fysically do the same but no one can touch them (at least not when they are catwalking). Who decides what is morally wrong? The only difference is that the lady of pleasure gets pain peanuts for her work and models get paid milions.
Does the West have authority to tell non Westeners what to wear or what not to wear?
If a Muslima does want to wear a niqaab or headscarf because she believes in something NOT for the money is that wrong/opressive??
So when you take off cloths and you get paid thats acceptable and when you PUT ON cloths and does not get paid MONEY but reward from God then that is oppressive?
Don’t come up with the fact that some women are forced to wear headscarf or burqa i am not talking about them i am talking about the majority who is volunteerly and out of free will wearing hijaab niqaab or headscarf.
Re: Catwalk and Cattle Walk, what is the difference?
^ I agree there is no difference between a street walker and a model apart from pay and demographics.
It is so sad that we have to worry about what the West will think and not about what Allah will reward us with when it comes to clothes.
This goes for the fashion industry of Pakistan as well which IMO has become so snooty and think anyone who isn't part of their clique isnt worth talking to. They are becoming so westernised that even I am shocked by what some people wear in Pakistan and I live in England!
It's a sad state of affairs.
On the other hand, you can get some girls who are extremely oppressed and told to wear the Hijab, Niqaab and Jilbab when they clearly only need the Hijab (IMO).
It's just a case of finding an appropriate balance whilst bearing in mind that Allah is supreme and knows what is in our hearts and minds.
Re: Catwalk and Cattle Walk, what is the difference?
I think that is highly ignorant comment.
We come from patriachral cultures were the masuline is exaulted and all that is feminine is looked down upon. A man if he can run fast is considered "gifted" and paraded at the Olymics.
Equivically, A beautiful woman should be lauded. Beauty, femininity, softness, sensuality etc are all feminine qualities that should be appreciated instead of looked down upon.
Also, catwalks are often the expression of artists/designers. It is an art form. Obviously it doesn't translate into real life. Look to lady Gaga for details. I think its incrediable how these women whilst being incrediably attractive manage to remove themselves from their gender. I think it is highly creative and powerful.
So far as equating them to street-walkers is concerned. :)

Well i partly agree with you but i think you did read between the lines madame :)
Re: Catwalk and Cattle Walk, what is the difference?
i think you are mistaking models for prostitutes. just like a lot of people in shor sharaba mistake actresses for prostitutes. no one is selling flesh, unless you like to read some 3rd rate gossip rags.
and nice work inserting the hijab line. now this thread big hit pal. everyone loves a good hijab debate. =)

always appeciate your comments without that this forum would be very boring place to be
keep up the good work mate.
you are entiteled to your opinion
but without explaning your point its useless.
my point is, you are trying to pass off models as prostitutes. when they are two different professions pal. =]
most models aren't prostitutes. most prostitutes aren't models. explanation enough, or do yer vant eet in poonjabee? =)
hmmm making fun of a language huh :)
a language spoken by 120 million people all over the world
but whatever caresses your ego mate :)
Well i did say that prostitutes are equal to the models or vice versa.
i merely wanted all of us to discuss here wether the West can dictate the non Westeners what is morally right!! Since you blindly follow the West and you have deep hatred against islam i do not expect anything sensible from you mate so fikkar not.
by the way did you see the video of Indian girl beaten by indian police officer bc she was with her boyfriend celebrating Valentine? I did not see any of your "intelligent" comments in that thread
or are u saving best for the last?
Re: Catwalk and Cattle Walk, what is the difference?
I have a friend here in Bangalore, who is one of the leading fashion designers in India and he has told me about the `openness' of these gals to compromise for their chances. But again it is difficult to term them pros because they are doing it just for getting an entry. But there is one more aspect to it.Once they realize that they are not getting the enough offers from the industry, some of them (or many) turn to prostitution. Its an open reality.
