Cats and Dogs

Re: Cats and Dogs

then what's the whole hoopla about 'napaak' and 'najis' anyway.. when all u need is 'cut/clean/tahr/ghusl' it to a 'paaak' state?

Re: Cats and Dogs

^ heard anything about types of najasat?

Re: Cats and Dogs

The hoopla is that there are certain things we are prohibited to do while we are najis e.g. pray, hold the mushaf etc.

Re: Cats and Dogs

Yaad rahay, frogs are napaak too.. oh and also haraaaaam

Re: Cats and Dogs

I bet not… that is taught by the prophet:saw: and can only be found in hadeeth…

He rejects the whol concept of ahaadeeth… for him, it is okay to be Najiss:P

Re: Cats and Dogs

Please note that anything haram is not automatically napaak :)

For example donkey. It forbidden to eat but it is perfectly allowed to keep it for domestic chore or as a pet.

Similarly turtles, you cant eat but keep it as a pet. and it is not napak

Same way there no mention of Frogs as being napak in any hadees ( If there is then i am not aware of it)

There is no relation between haram and napak as such. Cat and dogs are mentioned because hygene issues... they are common domestic pets, and on top of that they are carnivorous. No carnivorous animal is halal for muslims.

You can keep cats as pets, as there is no restrictions. You can keep dogs as guardian of house or cattle, but you are not allowed to keep them inside your house. touching dogs does not make you napak (impure) in islamic sense but it is prescribed to avoid contact with dogs specially their secretions. and if you touch it then you should wash the body part or cloths carefully.
