Hello everyone 
I need a little help from you guys. We will be going to Pakistan in the beginning of august 2015. We will be staying in Hong Kong for 2 weeks to see family and all. I wanted to know when is the best time to book my tickets for august of next year. We’ll be flying from San Francisco to Hong Kong and then from there to Karachi. I think we’re suppose to take Cathay pacific to Hong Kong and then is it the same after Hong Kong? Are there any other flights? We will be 5 people so I need to look for cheaper flights. I haven’t been to Pakistan for 10+ years and just wanted to plan ahead with my budget and everything. How much do you think the cost would be for each person. For a round trip or one way. Thankyou

First of all, I'm glad you decided to visit back pakistan which is ofcourse our country in the end so congrats. I'd like a bay area resident comment on the best option from san francisco but I'd say for next august, you should look around january and dont go for one airline only just shop around and compare prices. you can goto individual websites or may contact a travel agent who can do the same for you. They have softwares which bring the lowest price. You can try now as well but i would do that in jan if i were u.
Regarding Cathay pacific, I remember travelling from it in 98/99 from khi to hongkong and it was awesome. Not sure about its standard currentlly.

the cheapest fares are available online and the best time is to start checking for the fares 3 months before your departure up until one month before departure. if you try to book ahead of 3 months or within a month's time of your departure, the fares are much higher. seats go on sale for overseas between 3 and 2 months prior to your departure date.
Cathay Pacific is more expensive. i think your best bet would be using Multiple airlines. since you have very limited choice between HKK and KHI, your fare for that segment may be higher bumping up the total price.
again, lower fares are in September. August is peak season and is usually 300-500 dollars more.
you might get a cheaper fare over the Atlantic as compared to over the Pacific.

Cathay Pacific is one of the best and one of the leading airlines and hence the fares are higher than others.
