Re: Catastrophic rain & flood across Punjab - all rain threads merged

I am surprised that PMLN ruled Punjab 29 years out of last 38 years ... claim that they are hard working, good managers, and rule efficiently ... still, no preparation for floods, even when there is flood every 3 to 4 years?

They way PMLN and their supporters brag about NS and SS, with 29 years of rule behind them, one was expecting that Punjab would have turned into California, and certainly Lahore must be competing with London in providing amenities and facilities to citizen.

As for Sindh, this province is under PPP rule since 1972 (42 years) except patches of few years here and there. So, with such long government in Sindh, if PPP government was so good then we would have no flood problem (and also other problems). Actually, by now, Sindh government knowing that many parts of Sindh is desert and lacks water, should have already done something to channel flood waters to these areas. But if we would see that even after 42 years of PPP rule in Sindh, flood would bring misery to people than one can only cry on mental health of Jiyalas.

Re: Catastrophic rain & flood across Punjab - all rain threads merged

I agree with you that pmln is better than PPP though. People in Punjab do get rehabilitated sooner or later not like the people of Sindh who are living in tents since 2010.

Re: Catastrophic rain & flood across Punjab - all rain threads merged

Could this flood water be stored somewhere in Thar when it reaches Kotri? Or it should go through the delta for the natural process of the river system?

Re: Catastrophic rain & flood across Punjab - all rain threads merged

Flood waters expected to reach Sindh by 14th. Is the provincial government ready for the challenge? Considering the province is flooding every year since 2010.

Re: Catastrophic rain & flood across Punjab - all rain threads merged

^ no as always

Re: Comparing NYC & Lahore : Rain & Flood

Thanks for clarification. BTW what i meant was politicians and administration should definately take responsibility but Nawaz just came one season ago, so the majority of the blame goes to previous governments.

BTW India despite all its preparedness is hit pretty bad also. Hundreds have lost lives and lakhs are still stranded.
