there are a couple of places from where you can get the ferry ride to the catalina, newport beach and long beach.
its a nice getaway place for couples but i would not take lil kids with me cos they may get bored except for the submarine ride where you see exotic oversized fishies. there are hiking trails there as well for the adventurous soul as well and places to just kick back and chill and enjoy the ocean breeze/waves. lots of PDA spots as well :P
