how come people care so much about caste when it comes to marriage? I was just reading marriage proposals on this site, a lot of them are concern about caste? why? i don’t get it?? I thought caste system was only big in India. Where people in certain tribes think they are better than everyone else. Just like most desi think white is better than any other color. which is one of the dumbest things ever! I can understand desi wanted to marry a desi only b/c she/he would click better b/c of culture/environment they grew in but i can’t seem to understand why caste is so important.

totally agree. and it shouldn't matter.
i remember one aunty saying to my mum, "please only find me a fair, doctor girl from a syed family!" that aunty was just making it harder for herself finding the perfect rishta.
Being an ABCD from the states, can someone explain what the caste system is? what caste are in Pakistan?
