Re: Caste Discrimination in India
After nearly 60 years of independence has failed to rid itself of the horrors of the Hindu caste syatem, so yes it does need others views to tackle this menace.
Re: Caste Discrimination in India
It can take generations to solve such problems. 60 years is nothing in the history of a country. The law of the land does try to eliminate such problems and so the progress has been much more than expected.
Look into any country - US still has Racism and it got independance about 250 years ago. The Indian democracy is very young.
Try to look into Pakistan and see what problems are there. Do you have similar (not same but similar) problems, now try to see if the country is moving in the direction to solve those problems. I am not looking for an answer, its just something to think about.
Re: Caste Discrimination in India
How long has the Hindu caste system been around?
Re: Caste Discrimination in India
For a very long time. Initially it was for good of the society, but then it got interpreted in a wrong way and we lost all its advantages.
Since independence we have been working to solve this issue and today we are much better than we were at the time of independence. With the help of improving economy these issues will be solved at an even higher rate.
Re: Caste Discrimination in India
How can you call a caste system good for society? Is there no equality of people in the Hindu religion?
Re: Caste Discrimination in India
Oye one man SILLY army.... the original caste system was based on profession and was not tied to birth, and many rules were more rule of working. Unfortuantely these got connected to birth at later date..
There are umpteen instances where persons father belong to different caste than son prior to ManuSmiriti...
Now above point has been raised by multiple times and has been mentioned multiple times, I hope this time you get it and don't keep pushing single agenda and do some discussoin.....
Re: Caste Discrimination in India

Re: Caste Discrimination in India
i think it is inevitable that quotas will be introduced even further, no matter what. But any way, i hope this quota system is utilized properly by the beneficiaries.
and i hope they keep private enterprises out of this system system.
