Cassette Kahani....

Since folks were talking about Imran Series, Dastaan-e-Amir Hamza and all the good stuff while growing up in Pak, I just remembered the Cassette Kahani series.

It was based on Arabian Nights and other childrens stories from around the world.
I remember an interpretation of Jack and the Bean Stalk and Ali Baba Chaalis Chor.

They did a superb job on sound effects and cast alike. I only remember Qazi Wajid’s calm and soothing voice narrating some character. The man has a great talent as a story teller.

Please share your experiences. It’ll be a miracle if someone had one in their collection today.

Re: Cassette Kahani....

Oh my word, some of those stories were so scary - we had the box collection. Very good nonetheless - they seemed so real at the time, but then again, I was very very young.

Re: Cassette Kahani....

I only had one of those cassettes as a kid, but I loved it. I think I wanted more later on, but I couldn't find'em.

I believe it was cassette kahani #7. I wonder if such stuff is still around. It would be great for little kids who could use it to learn Urdu, hopefully.

Re: Cassette Kahani....

i still have some of those cassettes, i still listen to them :biggthumb

Re: Cassette Kahani....

wow, that's amazing nancy, you might wanna upload it in the audio for a trip back in time.

I think I got upto number 21 in the series but my cousin owned all of them. I only got to listen to them at his house.

Re: Cassette Kahani....

Now that I have kids, I would love to have more of those cassettes. They are a lot better for kids' imagination. I still remember Tarzan series. It was so much fun. In fact I was thinking if I should start it myself for kids but I will definitely need some help with sound effects. Hah, good old days !!!
