This wasnt for teens, it was for kids aged 4-8. It was a big hit with me at least :)! I am not sure how much of a hit it was with others. Most of the kids that I knew would have at least some of these cassettes. I however, had them all, and would listen to them most of the day.
I dont know why they finished producing them ? Perhaps they werent as big a hit with the masses as I think they were. :crying:
I got introduced to Tarzan and Sindbad through these cassettes. t was still fun listening to their dubbed versions in Urdu. What was also interesting was to listen to a voice all day, and then see that person on TV !!! Qazi Wajid probably had the most distinctive voice, so was the lady playing Kala, Tarzans Gorilla Mother (I think the name was Ismat Tahira or Zeenat Yasmin or something like that).
Does anyone else remember those Cassette Kahaanies?
DapakiGuy! hell yeah man!!! I’m probably one of the biggest cassette kahani fans ever!
good job openign this thread :k:
oh…so mnay memories comign back! we used to listen to it all day! Tarzan, Sindbad ‘jahaazi’, 3 tuhfay, sufaid hirni…just to name a few
i miss them so much, lucky you still have them all, i somehow lost my cassettes nad have been wondering and looking for them, and hoping someone would have them on a CD…
they shouldnt have stopped producing them…kids today are missing out on a lot!
I love cassette kahanis, to this day! i have very fond memories listening to them and whenever a relative would be going to pakistan, i would ask them to bring back tapes for me. I agree, they shouldn't have stopped producing them. Is their a place we can download them so we can burn them on CDs?
Does anyone remember what the frequency of release for these cassettes was? There were 20-24 of them in all, and I think I remember the last one being in 86 or 87. So it lasted for 6 years, that makes the average release rate to be once every 4 months. Did they actually come out after such a long time??
Another thing that I am now remembering is the ‘teaser’ tralier that they used to give at the end of every Cassette Kahani about the next one.
Most of my friends had just one or two cassette kahani tapes, and they used to listen to them over and over again. Swapping of these cassettes was also pretty common. It was quite common for 3-4 kids to sit around a cassette player and quietly listen to the story. We also tried to play a game of acting out the characters, but that didnt go down well… I dont remember for what reason.
Me and my sister used to buy almost every of the cassette Kahani by Sonic (?). I remember that "TARZAN KE KAHANI" and others too. As far as my memory goes, we had around 14-17 cassette kahanis!
I used to love them. However I think it is a 70s and 80s thing.
I remember the voices of the Jinn (Deo) and his grandmother who gave the brave boy whiskers from his chin...
Also, I loved how the story would start by saying it is like a ball of thread that is unravelling....
Ahh ....what a memory....
Strangley enough, ppl who are not fond of story telling or listening (Like my better half) really don't find them interesting at all.
hoonh...
i loved these as a kid, i remember listening to sindbad and other stories with Deo (monster?) and shahzadi and arabian night type themes. i wonder who produced them.
I had one and only one. The first story had a bear who used to eat honey off the honey comb. Other two stories had fairies etc maybe. I have searched for that cassette so hard and i cant find that. I want to hear those stories again. YES i want to:(
JazakAllah . i was just thinking of some birthday party ideas some days back and had this in mind. have lost mine cassette kahanis and didn't know whether any shop is offering them , so that i could have my kids and their friends enjoy around it.
