Civil case filed against Shoaib
LAHORE: A case was filed on Monday against Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar, accusing the express bowler of hurting religious sentiments by attending a fashion show on a Muslim holy night, a lawyer said. Ansar Bajwa, a lawyer for Muzamal Hassan Shah, said he has filed for 25,000 rupees (US$430) in damages against Shoaib, Aamer Sohail and Rameez Raja alleging they attended a fashion show in Islamabad on Saturday, which was Shab-e-Barat. The court in Lahore would appoint a judge to hear the case today. Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq said he was unaware that Shoaib had attended the show.“All the players were in the room by 11 in the night, but if anyone has violated the rules, I think disciplinary action should be taken against him,” Inzamam said.
According to nutcase fundos, Cricket is not a halal pastime in Pakistan as there are women in the crowd, cricketers are often seen wearing shorts, none wear required Taliban length beards so a case should be filed against Muzamal Hassan Shah for hurting religious sentiments by following this game played by people like Shoaib.
LAHORE, Pakistan (AFP) - A Pakistani court has summoned fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar and two cricket officials to hear a petition demanding an apology and damages for attending a fashion show on a Muslim holy day, court officials said.
Civil court judge Mohammad Azam has asked Shoaib along with Pakistan Cricket Board chief executive Ramiz Raja and chief selector Aamir Sohail to appear for a hearing on October 28.
The petition, submitted by a private individual, demands damages worth 25,000 rupees (431 dollars) and an apology for hurting religious sentiments by attending a fashion show on the Muslim holy night of Shab-e-Barat (a holy night for prayers) on Saturday.
Shab-e-Barat is a festival for Muslims to offer prayers, two weeks before the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan starts.
“The damages we are claiming are just a token, the main thing is apology for hurting religious sentiments,” the petitioners lawyer Ansar Mahmood Bajwa told AFP.
Pakistani media splashed photographs of players and officials attending a fashion parade in the capital Islamabad until late Saturday night, the eve of Pakistan’s final one-day match against South Africa.
Pakistan lost the match by seven wickets to lose the series 3-2.
“People are trying to make an issue out of a non-issue,” Raja told AFP.
“Since it was a day-night game players did go to the show for just half an hour.”
Shoaib is also contesting a court case for allegedly hurting national pride by criticising fellow Pakistani bowlers in an interview with Britain’s Guardian newspaper in June. The case is slated to be heard on October 21.
What about calling those who organized the event in the first place.
What the hell is wrong with these Pakis.
How has 1 person's actions is hurting the religious sentiments/
Which just goes to prove that it’s Shoaib that the guy is targeting and nothing to do with relgious sensibilities. Shoaib, Sohail and Rameez should counter-sue for defamation of character for damages of 25,000 rupees, there should also be a case filed against the petitioner for hurting religious sensibilities of the nation by bringing the religion into disrepute by showing rank hypocrisy, and a further case should be filed for damages of 75,000 rupees for making a mockery of the courts and thus bringing standing of the nation to a new low.
As far as "hurting religious sentiments" is concerned that’s a crap. My (or any other Muslim’s) religious faith is not that week to get hurt by Shoaib going to fashion show or something else.
In the same breath
I don’t know about other but I want Shoaib to be punished for what he did. I don’t want my players to go out party a night before the big final.
Thing is quite simple our elders always asked us to sleep early a night before the exam so that we can wake up fresh next day and give 100% in exam. Now this was a tip at quite root level, being professional Shoaib should follow the tip and keep aside a tip this was actually a RULE by PCB (that everyone should be back in bed at 11:00 pm) which he disobeyed and he has done this tons of time and he will do it again and again until get a strict punishment.
LAHORE (AFP) - Pakistan’s fiery pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar has sued two citizens for 100 million rupees (1.7 million US dollars) each for allegedly defaming him, his lawyer said.
Akhtar, considered the fastest bowler in the world, moved the petitions through his lawyer against Syed Muzammal Hussain and Najmaul Abass Shah at a local court.
“We have filed two defamation cases against these publicity mongers for defamation and mental agony caused by their allegations,” Akhtar’s lawyer Taffazul Rizvi told AFP on Saturday.
The move came after civil courts in Lahore dismissed the petitions filed against Akhtar by both Hussain and Shah.
Hussain last year filed a case against Akhtar for remarks the bowler made in a British newspaper that he claimed hurt Pakistan’s image.
Akhtar was quoted by the newspaper as saying that he would have claimed more wickets if he had been playing for Australia.
Shah filed a case against Akhtar claiming he hurt religious sentiments by attending a fashion show on Shab-e-Qadr, an Islamic holy night, last year.
“The court has asked the two respondents to appear on July 5,” Rizvi said.
Akhtar, who was involved in a fitness row with Pakistan Cricket Board last month, was Friday named among 26 probables for next month’s Asia Cup.
He is currently playing for Durham county in England and is expected to return home next week.
