I am planning to goto Pakistan and will stop in Dubai for 2-3 days on the way there. I was wondering what people do with all the cash they’re carrying as well as passports?
Do you guys keep this on you at all times, or can you store it somewhere? Is it recommended to use the safe provided in some hotel rooms? Any other options?
short stays i keep the passport and cash with me all the times. you can also take just the amount of cash you need for now, and have it sent it over to either you or transferred to a bank account in pakistan.
yeah i was thinking traveller's cheques as well but last year when i went to pakistan i had a hell of a time finding anyone who would cash them...i am guessing it has probably gotten worse now... so i was thinking just to take all cash with me which is fine once i get to pak because i can store it somewhere but just weary to keep it all on me when i'm going around dubai, not for safety but just the fact that you have all this money with you is kind of a distraction...
Dubai is very safe in general. But I would still try to avoid carrying large amounts of money when you are "sightseeing". Hotel safe should be a safe place to place the money.
i dont know about airport but by road u cannot bring in more then 40000 dirhams in cash. i know because i just entered uae by road from oman today. you will have to declare amounts greater then 40000 dirhams
last time i went to pak, i only carried the amount i would need for the travel. when in pak, i used my debit card from here(amerika) to take out cash. that worked out great.
During flight on you is the best, or a bag that has some sort of lock on it . I lost money on board…600 dollars to be exact…the rest was fine but it was so weird…I don’t know what happened:konfused:
