Career shift! need some help...

Hi!

I graduated in fall 2007 wid a BS in business administration. After remaining unemployed for about six months, I finally landed with a bank job. Currently I am working as a management trainee at a private bank with an experience of nine months to my credit, but I dont want to remain in banking industry in the longer run because I find no charm in the field.

I am doing this job only to gain work experience for my mba i.e. at least two years, do my mba and then afterwards change my career to some other field like marketing or HR.

I just wanted to ask “Am I on the right track?” or should I embark on my field of interest right from now rather than wait two years and then switch afterwards. Sometimes I feel my these two years will go wasted i.e. I am spending my time in the field which does not interests me at all. But sometimes I feel there is no other option for me, with so much joblessness prevailing in the market i might not find another job and my dream of mba might not be accomplished.

Plz help me out!

Re: Career shift! need some help...

Just stick on,because this is recession time and it will be difficult for u to find another job, that is to ur liking, and also you have got only a short time experience.

thnx arleitter for ur valued response...

but i jus hav another query which is "that post mba will il be able to change my career that much easily or my previous work experience will have some imapct on my resume???"

Re: Career shift! need some help...

I do not think just two years experience in banking will hinder any switch over to HR or marketing once you complete your MBA. Before the age 30 one can easily change his track and you are still young. As Arliter said stick to the job during these hard times and complete two years till you get to the univeristy.
