Besides being uber excited that my alma mater has setup free Vault access for Alums, a thought about company loyalty occurred to me. I have been at my current firm for about 2.5 years. Although it is not a long time, I have seen so many colleagues come and go. I have had the opportunity to move up and around the firm, becoming one of the youngest managers.
I didn’t set out to be working at this firm for more than a year, the opportunities and promotions really kept me interested in continuing. Things have now become a bit stagnant and coupled with personal reasons, I am ready to move on and relocate to a new city.
This brings me to the main topic: As I researched the companies, I have been looking at them with the long term lens, meaning how much opportunities for growth, benefits are available. Furthermore, I would like to get some international experience, so their worldwide reach has become important as well.
In relation to your career pathway, has the long term with one firm approach worked? Or did you jump around from one firm to another? Obviously, I am thinking in terms of a career culminating at the CEO, CFO level. I would be quite interested in hearing your thoughts.
