So I got a job after searching for months…but its I feel as if it has nothing to do with what i studied for and I feel like its a waste of time. What should I do? I really like the company and want to stay within the company but I am not sure what job position would be suitable for me? I have a degree in Business- Marketing and Supply & Logisitics…any suggestions? Any good companies that are recommended to work for? I live in USA…west coast…

you have your foot in the door, get the experience, figure out what you want to do. look for internal postings and opportunities, much easier to be in teh company and move internally than go into a new company, especially at early stages in career.
I mean even if someone tells you about a good company, in your post you are writing that you dont know what you want to do.

With Degree in Business- Marketing and Supply & Logisitics, you may stick around some major city area in West coast...as Pir Sahb said Much easier to saty with the company and move up in that company and then outside....if u waana try other places than in Mid-West chicago or Minneapolis( it has more to it than what you think)would be the places

do u think that a health care field is a good area to grow in for a business major? Most of the jobs that i see are supervisors and admin positions…i am not sure if that relates to my field…the reason why i ask is because i am kinda of confused as to what to do…

health is a phenomenal field to be in. the growth rates are great. opportunities in insurance companies, hmos, pharmacy benefits mgmt, hospitals, consulting etc are great.
look at kaiser permanante etc in your area, I would say check out health care consulting practices of deloitte etc, but you need to have some experience to get in, and the travel factor may be limiting for you.

realize that in some cases as a fresh grad you may just get your foot in the door and learn what the business is about before you can get into other roles.

appointment clerk....the hosp is huge on call centers...i took the job just to get started somewhere....should i stay for a month or two more or start applying for something within the org? And I only work part time so thats why i was also looking for another position within the org.

as far as starting within the org there may be policies on how ling u must be in a role and what your evaluation and performance rankings are for you to be eligible to apply for internal moves. look at that.
I would say if u have an appointment clerk role, then keep applying to other companies as well.

for the org they said i can apply even before probation is over.....and i am doing just that....since i am marketing major what company would u recommend for me to try to get a job at esp if i want to go to a good MBA school in a few years???

Kaiser is a good company due to the whole growth is healthcare field
the biggest thing is notjust the company bit what you were doing, a lower paying but good role even in a not for profit or a smaller org will be better than a not so good role in a major company.

I am in southern Cal. Kaiser pays really good and they have good benefits....but if i want to go for an MBA i don't think that they will really care about the pay....they will look more at the job title and the role that I had....so thats why i ask you what company has good marketing positions....i am still applying within kaiser....but looking else where too...

if its the latter then you should be combing monster, hotjobs, vault etc.
if its the former, then you should still be looking at sites like vault

since u have a health and mkt background, I think any company ranging from medical device manufacturers, Pharma, Pharamcy benefits Mgmt, healthcare, type companies would work. you could also look into category mgmt roles in major retailers, teh amount of marketing work that goes behind the scenes is phenomenal.
see if there are offices of any marketing research or marketing intelligence type companies in your area. spectra, IRI, Nielsen, Fair Issac or companies which make software for marketing and sales, vtrenz, salesforce.com, siebel, eloyalty or for supply chain manugistics, i2 etc.

i want to try office work....more like research or even on the administrative side....not anything to do with working with customers directly.
