Re: Career oppurtunities in Dubai
Just to give you a taste of how expensive the accomodation is in U.A.E.: A couple of years back I was living in Abu Dhabi and my 3 bedroom apartment used to cost U.A.E. Dhs 105,000/= which equvates to ~US $ 2400/month. It was a good apartment in good location but certainly not top of the line. In the last two years, I safely presume that the prices would have gone up. Dubai is only slightly cheaper than Abu Dhabi.
If the company you are going to join is not paying for your accomodation, it is not really worth it.
Someone forgot to mention one of the big advantages of working in U.A.E.: At the most 3 hours from home sweet home. Well! If you have home there.
One more thing: Emirates Airlines (Dubai National Airlines) is considered the best in the world. It has the biggest pre-order for the new Airbus A380s giants!!
The Palm island will be second man-made structure, after GWOC, to be visible from moon.
A lot of international companies look at this website to hire in Dubai:

As a paki or an indi, you will surely get less salary than a gora or a national counterpart, especially if you are working in one of the national companies. I declined the offer from Etisalat (their telecomm company) because of the pay they offered me. Most of the international companies are not bad if you are a technical specialist.
If you want to know any further info, I shall be happy to share as well.
