Re: Career choices for People who don’t want to Graduate!!

You could sell peanuts or hot dogs on a cart outside the same college :hmmm:

Re: Career choices for People who don't want to Graduate!!

What good does a degree do for most people? A boring cubicle job with very little advancement opportunities. most people get their 10% raise, and think they are living the life.

With Lemon and masala Added to em:yummy:

Maybe maybe …:hmmm: kulfi too…cultural awareness in a bar:sadiyah:

But seriously

I would only want to sell Pakistani food…:bummer:

Thats what I say too...EVERYONE SHOULD STAY IN SCHOOL....

We are too Cool for the Public sharks infected Pool!!!

Re: Career choices for People who don't want to Graduate!!

Haha, I'm in the same boat, but for the opposite reason. I want a career, but I cannot stand University. I've been struggling through, flunking, trying again, and the chain continues.....now I'm married and my husband's pushing me to finish my masters and then go for my Ph.D! Itna nahin hota mujhse, Ph.D kaise karoongi?! Haha.

I personally don't think college is for everyone. But what can you do without a degree? Haha.

I would say YOU have to be ready for it. I know personally I went back to school after the kids...its hard in the beginning...but as your mind gets used to it...it may be different.Again only YOU would know When or if the time is right for you or not.

Do you know why you don't like it. Is it the material, maybe change in field of study...something that interests you. There is a lot of difference in HAVING to do something and Wanting to do it.:)

OK, let’s do this. Get a fancy looking cart. We call it Nashtah.

You serve, kebab rolls, aloo chaat, samosay, pakola and chai. Chalega?

Re: Career choices for People who don’t want to Graduate!!

^^ How about in a Pakistani Truck theme…with shairo shairy on the back too:D

And the menu sounds superb…only thing is…I want to eat all of these first:naraz:

Re: Career choices for People who don't want to Graduate!!

Other idea is to have a theela/cart with under 5 dollars gift items which bf/gf could gift each other aur pyar key paingain barha sakain.

Re: Career choices for People who don't want to Graduate!!

What are we talking about? A college degree? a high school diploma?

There are numerous careers mostly in retail industry. I believe McDonalds hires without a high school diploma.

Personal assistants, secretary, cashiers, drivers, mechanics. machine operators, farmers

Some of them a very lucrative.

Re: Career choices for People who don't want to Graduate!!

Investors, Entrepreneurs ...

ex. bill gates, steve jobs, Micheal dell,... Walt Disney..Henry Ford..Richard Branson.. were all college or high school dropouts..

85% of Faisalabad/Lahore factory/mill owners are not even went to school .. let alone college..

Personally, i never take college/uni education for career building or making money !

You may need to relocate for this job

Re: Career choices for People who don't want to Graduate!!

Teacher?

Re: Career choices for People who don't want to Graduate!!

Njal, Firenze, stochastic,

Guys I was talking about Careers for people who like "STaying " in college too much.Loving the process of learning too much rather then wanting to get out Asap and start a career in the "outside" world.

Re: Career choices for People who don't want to Graduate!!

go for a PhD and then post doc, then another area..while working at the uni in research.

I have always thought it is for people who are like super super smart.

I have been researching about the Phd options...what sort of personality is needed(that is important to me)

What career options are there apart from Research in University and a Professor?

Re: Career choices for People who don't want to Graduate!!

you can always work in a uni, counselors, advisors, uni endowment funds and foundations mgmt, business offices..some of my friends loved academia environment and decided to just work in the higher education space.

That is something I would want to look further into.
Its so interesting to meet so many different people at school.
One thing that really intrigues me is the fact when the Professors talk about the Careers they have left to come and teach. The difference of wanting to Teach others.Passing on the experiences so that others can benefit from them.
I as of now don’t see myself out in the field. Maybe it may change as I experience the work environment. I have till this summer to decide what I plan to do.:bummer:
Currently I have the oppurtunity to work(volunteer based) with the Marketing Department, lets see how it goes.
