I have been going through reviews for car seats/strollers and I also saw the threads here, but I am still confused
I have gathered that travel systems are too bulky so its better to stay away from them??
If I get a car seat and the car seat frame stroller thingy with it,do I need a separate stroller too??
How soon does the baby actually grow out of the first car seat and this frame stroller thing??
I know I want a car seat that I can take out of the car easily and take it with me if I am out like for say groceries etc or visiting someone, without having to disturb the baby in and out of too many things.
Any recommendations??
Will appreciate help as I think I am freaking out a bit now because I have almost 10 more weeks to go,Inshallah and nothing for the baby as of yet
Nomi you need to calm down car seats are not that bad things they work if baby is healthy uptill 8 or 9 mnths and if baby is medium or skinny you can use them till 12 mnths. I had a baby carseat and travel system but it was not that hard you’ll get use to it.But some people buy only car seats and their frame strollers ,well when I saw that I thought it is much easier instead of heavy strollers.
PS.I am talking about this thing Graco SnugRider Infant Car Seat Frame Stroller - Graco - Babies “R” Us
Thanks for the reply UZ :)
Do only Graco car seats fit with this frame stroller or do other brands work with it too?Which car seat did you have with this frame?
Another question for those who have used car seats, which is a better option..an infant car seat which goes till 20 lbs maybe or a convertible one which goes up to 35 lbs??When I see those convertible ones, they look too bulky and heavy.

I don't know because my friend had graco car seat with that frame but I think other brands should fit too.You can ask babies "R"us sales person they help you on these issues.
About the car seat I bought up to 20 pounds for both of my children.:) Because (that's my personal view) first it is heavy and second when I saw those convertible ones its quality was not that good. But then again it was my personal opinion. :)
Nomadic, we’re still dealing with this issue. We got the Chicco Keyfit30 Car seat. It’s really well-reviewed for safety and durability and we liked the look of it and we liked the fact that its base stays in the car to be snapped in. Oh and also it seats babies up to 30lbs.
It is also part of a travel system, and we keep going back and forth about going ahead and getting the stroller. Honestly, they don’t seem that bulky in comparison to other strollers. I had initially planned to get a frame – only the McClaren stroller frame worked with our seat. But in the end we didn’t get that either. Our little girl is only 4 weeks, so I haven’t had a need for a stroller yet, but as the weather warms up, we’re going to need to figure this out. Honestly, right now I’m leaning toward getting the stroller that is part of the travel system.
travel system is ONLY good if u will be going out quite a bit.. if its just a weekend thing.. then stick with stroller.. the kind that can recline to a lying down position.. and a car seat on the side.
distrubing the baby is totally dependant on the baby itself.. some babies can sleep thru it whilst others cant.. we got a travel system cuz we go out every friggin single day so it works for us but the reason we bought a car seat that snaps onto a frame was to not disturb the baby.. didnt work. so getting it soley for that reason.. not worth it.
look up maxi cosi.. thats the one we have.. teh 4 wheel one though.. i think its called mura.
how fast a baby outgrows a level one car seat is again dependant on how fast a baby grows... my son outgrew his car seat at 5 months .. we pushed it until the 6th month and were forced to upgrade a few days short of him turning 7 months cuz his feet were literally riding up the back seat :D
no matter how light they say trhey are.. travel systems are bulky and quite a hassle to be honest. i bought a stroller on the side for when going out alone with the baby cuz i just could not handle the diff attatchments like stroller seat, frame etc.
Can any of you ladies pls be kind enough to tell me what the difference between a travel system and a stroller is... I thought travel system was a stroller + a car seat...
ya thats what it is automne... a stroller by itself is well.. just a stroller
a travel system is a stroller and car seat in one.. u can detatch and attatch teh car seat ... some travel systems even come with 3 attatchments.. the one i have has a car seat, stroller and a buggy... and it totally detatchable .. as in take all off and u have just a frame
some travel systems.. u cant detatch the stroller.. but car seat fits right into the stroller.
We have the same exact one Ume Zafeerah posted a link for and we are really happy with it. We didnt like the bulkiness of the travel system and since i didnt want a bulky travel system to deal with when travellign without the husband, we opted for the snug ride and totally love it. The car seat we use is Graco Step 1. Our 11 month old still fits into it even though she is tall for her age albeit a bit skinny (it goes upto 30 lbs).
I am sure once she outgrows her car seat, we will have to get a seperate stroller. For now she uses a cheap one sometimes (the umbrella stroller kind) but we only bought it for our trip to Pak.
Thanks for the replies.
I think I am decided about getting the graco car seat frame with the car seat and then Inshallah when the baby outgrows it I can get a stroller.
I think the car seat with the frame will suit our needs way better than the bulky travel system.
Nomadic, its always a good idea to test drive stroller so you can feel the difference between them. I would recommend you go to your local BRUs and do that.
I would strongly recommend Maxi-Cosi over graco and chicco etc. they are good quality ones, also can be fitted to a range of strollers with its attachment adapters.
another good suggestion is if you think you may have another baby later, Phill and Teds is better to buy and you can attach second seat later if require so you wouldnt have to buy another stroller or have two strollers.
One more suggestion.....please put some weight in the stroller before test driving it.......don't push it around empty.
And when you put weight in it, don't just put the baby's weight, put some extra in to accommodate for the diaper bag, groceries, shopping bags, a purse if you will carry one.....etc.
Once all this weight is in, then try pushing the stroller.......this will give you a more accurate representation of what it will be like.
Thanks for the replies.

yes a good idea, as with my first i bought the whole travel system thing a mistake as was too bulky. i then baught a cheap stroller when she was 6 months old, if i was to buy again i would do the above
Ok a quick question for those who used the Graco snap and go thing.
My understanding is that frame is for the Graco infant car seats.
When the baby outgrows his or her first car seat at about 22 pounds(because most car seats go upto that weight limit),its time to get another one,a forward facing one.
Will that also fit onto the snap and go frame thing?
If not, then it means its time to get a stroller?
I will really appreciate replies from those who have tried and tested the Graco frame stroller.
Also, once the child outgrows the second car seat ,then its time for the booster seat which can then be used uptil the age they are supposed to be put into car seats..right?
This is what I have gained from my tutorial at babies r us
