I checked online and car rentals in UK cost pretty much the same as here in the US for unlimited mileage. But what I couldn’t find out was can you only drive in the UK or else where too, like Germany/Norway/France?

most companies offer cars to be driven only within the UK, to get to drive in other european countries - some of the bigger companies will charge you extra to cover insurance etc. try the big names like hertz, enterprise etc they should offer you this option.

No, none of the companies would let you drive out of UK. They claim that cars get stolen. If you want to drive in other countries take the train to Paris and rent the car there.

Dont take car from UK to other countries, particularly if u are coming from North American, right hand / left hand problem.
Car insurance in UK is the worst car insurance on this earth u can find. Insurance companies are robbing their customers there. So u will not find adequate insurance anyway.
I tell people not to take their british car to mainland Europe, huge insurance risk.
