Re: Car Rental Companies in Toronto

Salman Bhai, as with many North American rental companies…nearly all automobiles are american. You’ll either find Dodge Caravans, or Ford Windstars, depending on which rent a car center you go to. Finding a odyssey or sienna is very hard if you go to the big name rental centers as the jap vans are expensive.

Let me give you an overview of the rental companies, and their van selection:

Budget : Carries ford products, Van : Windstar
Hertz : Owned by ford, Van : Windstar
Avis : Many makes, Van : Windstar
Dollar Rent-A-Car : diamler chrysler products, Van : Caravan
Thrifty : " "
Discount : gm products, Van : Venture or Montanna
National : " "
thrifty and dollar have unlimited mileage offers

try this site for a quote: its ALAMO with unlimited mileage for 90bucks a day.

Try Don Valley North Lexus Toyota. My dad borrowed a sequoia when his camry was being repaired. It was fairly expensive compared to the other choices, but my dad got a discount as he bought his camry from there. Many of their rentals are demo vehicles, so they arent base models. Thats a good thing. :D

DVNLT is located at 3120 steeles avenue east.tele:416-798-7188

Thanks Hammad, my agent Pilot :D will look after this for me. Also he's got some contacts with Acura's Dealership and we were wondering this time we should rent Acura's MDX. What do you think?

go for it, but usually these dealers dont have unlimited mileage, as they sell the cars used themself later on. other than the mileage thing, the mdx is a good suv, depending on what you want. but if u want room, go for the sequoia. good luck.

One of my neighbour has sequoia and I have driven it quite a few times for long drive but didn't like its grip on the road. I have seen good reviews about MDX and have never driven one so I'll try going with that if I can't get it then I would try PILOT from Honda as the reviews are very strong and positive for these to SUVs.

Wow! such timely discussion :k:

I will also be in Toronto in the last two weeks of December and am planning to rent a 7 seater. I’d rather not rent a mini-van and want a full size SUV (Sequoia, MDX, Yukon etc). So this thread is extremely useful.

I called the Toyota/Lexus dealership (on the number given above) and also the Acura dealership. Toyota guys only had Highlander and no Sequoias and Acura folks claimed they don’t rent. They referred me to Hertz, and they don’t have anything in full-size SUV range either.

So, any other advice…? Salman, if you get any headway with Acura MDX, do let me know the rates and availability. Thanks.

Any other person in Toronto area, who can help, please let me know.

Acura usually doesnt rent, same thing with Toyota. But DVNLT and Erin Park are one of the few who do. I think erin park stopped, but im not sure.

If you want an American SUV it wont be a prob. The main full size suvs rented are Yukons, Suburbans and Expeditions(at Avis).

But, the Hertz center at Pearson international airport also has LAND ROVERS, and LINCOLN NAVIGATORS. But you must contact them in advance to book one of these.

if u return to ur minivan idea, i found a deal from DOLLAR rent a car
its a Dodge Caravan with unlimited mileage for 200bucks a week. not bad. Dollar Car Rental Deals

it says its sold out online, but im sure they’ll have some avail if u phone em.

Many of the car rental companies do not carry full size SUV's and those that carry told me that all full size SUV's are sold out (i.e. rented out already for that period). I called Hertz, Avis, National, Budget and Enterprise. Dang!

I checked with them last time when I was in Toronto I rented the Navigator, great SUV loaded with GPS so I enjoyed driving this veh.
I have contacted them this morning and they do have Esclade and Discovery too but its already booked. Charges for ordinary cars are pretty high as compared to Hertz within GTA. Cheepest I found was Hertz, Oakville but they don't have exotic series.

As I mentioned Pilot knows the manager of Acura's Dealership, at front street, very well and so I leave it upto him to find out. But he did mentioned that we can get MDX without any problem. So am looking forward to driving one.

Faisal, I'll let u know how much does it cost.
Hammad, Thanks!
