I usually use “Hotwire” for car rentals & most often they are a good bargain. Unlike the flight reservation, you are not restricted on time which always helps out.
I haven’t used much of Priceline mainly because they usually aren’t no better than Hotwire and their renting process is cumbersome.
Are their any other bargain car rental online web sites? (Other than Orbitz, travelocity, Expedia … )
Hotwire wasn't much of a bargain last time i checked.. we all know all rental car dealers are equal.. they all have crappy American cars.. but Enterprise i think has started with Hyndais.. once again.. nothing fancy..
The real trick is to see if you save by renting an hour here and there from your original itinerary.. sometimes you save for renting the whole weekend as opposed to just one day..
it pays to be a member too.. you get better rates.. and also book smaller (cheaper) cars in advance and arrive a little late for the pickup .. often the smaller cars get picked up first and if you have a reservation you get upgraded..
I got a car from o'hare airport in chicago on friday and returned it on monday...it was a brand new camry..umlimited miles..and i paid only $55 for 3 days..now that was a good deal..oh yeah the site was www.qixo.com
I want to rent out a car insha allah when i go to pakistan, how much will it cost to rent for a month? a decent car (JEEP, or any other saloon car) approximatley in rupees from rawalpindi/Islamabad?
don't know what type of deals one can find on the net. i normally rent from enterprise. they offer quite good deals. i think it depends on whom you talk to. one can negotiate depending on whom the sales person is
:-D its always worth a shot.
normally its not the rent of the car which makes the difference. it can be the insurance which makes the-overall-rent very expensive. one can check with their insurance company if they would cover the rental insurance or not.
enterprise has this weekend special deal which costs $10/day (exclusive of the insurance). i rented (brand new) mitsubishi lancer under this deal a couple of times. good car with a good deal.
another time i got a deal of $50/day (regular is $90 i think) for xterra from nissan. a good deal for a sporty jeep like xterra.
A real “Jeep” for rental wont be found in Pakistan - unless its from the World Wars. As for decent - a Toyota Corolla GLI or Honda Civic VTi is considered a premium in pakistan’s rental market (well Avis atleast). They will cost you about 4500p/day if you rent for 2 days, and as little as 3300p/day if you rent for more than 2 weeks. If you want something cheaper - there is the economy class consisting of the Suzuki Alto, and Dahaitsu Cuore which cost 1600p/day if you rent for 2 days, and 1300p/day if you rent for 2weeks. While this is the case for Avis, I have seen several road side rentals with 1988 Mitsubishi Pajeros, but sadly they come with drivers that are usually a hassle to deal with.
