Its hard to judge. Important thing is that you like the car, and so that should be sufficient.
For used cars, the most important thing is their condition, which only you can judge. However, for milage, its generally said that if a car has more than 12k miles per year, than the value is to be adjusted down. So this one will obviously need to be adjusted from the regular KBB or Edmunds value. How much? Its for you to decide, cz you are the buyer. And this thing you will have to take into account, when you decide to sell this car. Ofcouse, if you put in an additional 100k miles in the next three years, than this will become a moot point. :)
If you actually paid only $200 more than the dealership bought it for - its surely a great deal. Dealers scam people into trading in cars, and many people trade their cars for a stupidly low amount. My daddy sold his STS for 3k less than it's market value simply because trading it in was convenient. I assume the dealership scammed the previous S-Type owner and got a deal - and as a result you did too thanks to your friend. Enjoy the Jag, and make sure any recalls have been dealt with (I've heard a few for the 2000-2001 models).
Just curious , what happend to the SUV?
Sheraz ,
Great car :k: mubarak ho.. and great price!
thanks degas faisal and hskhan
khan sahab, my friend wanted to buy that car for himself but he gets demo cars and he does not have to pay insurance..but if he buys this car he will have to pay high insurance since he is only 21
anyways the new jag is for 45k and the actual paperwork is still in this car and this guy paid 45+ for this car..there is a jaguar dealership right next door..and same car with 35k miles was goin for $30k..so basically my car has 30k miles more but its 9000 less too..plus i m not gonna drive crazy like the last owner and maybe in 2 yrs brin the miles total to 85k and trade it in
also one more thing..i heard that jaguar s tyle won't change their body style until 2006
wait for some time…collect money…and buy the LEXUS suv  now thats a gaddi

NO worries, I wont hold that against you :)
anyways tell me why u sold urs..
I had an XJS v12 coupe, but it started becoming a problem because with parents visiting, as well as other elders, inlaws. I would have to rent cars while they were here or stick them in the rear seat..wifey had an eclipse so that was no help either, we would have to take ppl in 2 cars.
Add to that that V12 was a hard car to maintain i.e. only jaguar dealers would know how to eal with it. or ppl specializing in european cars.
While I was in eastcoast it was fine, but my pitstop for a year in small town america before heading to chicago was a pain
..minor crap such as an oil change would become an issue..e.g. the dude slammed the hood shut and since it will not close he was like bouncing with his hands on the hood to try to close it. Now anyone who knows an XJS knows that the way u close the hood is that u close it without slamming it and then inside the cabin there is a latch that u pull for the hood to be closed and locked..and thsi happened after I told the jackasses not to do that.
Another time I was low on brake oil and went to some place just to get the brake oil changed...they put a dot 3 instead of a dot 4 which a jag xjs needs, messed upo my brake system bigtime.
So i sold it because otherwise I would have to drive almost 2 hrs to go to the dealer for everything.. Ironically, I sold the car just as I joined a company which asked me to relocate to chicago just 2 months after I sold the car :(
That car was amazing, I have never had a car with that balance of ride quality and power..
