Captive Wins Distinction In Matric

According to this news item in the daily Dawn:

http://dawn.com.pk/2006/08/12/nat14.htm

A young inmate, Naeem in Bahawalpur jail earned 2nd position in Matric Exams 2006.
This young man is undergoing a term of 14 years apparently for murder.
My question to my readers is what should be done for such exceptional cases to make them useful citizens. Don’t you think this boy should be given probation?
Don’t you think that Pakistani nation has an eormous potential? In the words of the great poet, Allama Iqbal
***Nahi hai naa ummeed Iqbal apni kasht-e-weeraaN se
Zara nam ho to yeh mitti bari zarkhez hai saqi

Re: Captive Wins Distinction In Matric

Murder is a very serious crime my friend. Based on research in the west 95 percent EX convicts are repeat offenders.

Re: Captive Wins Distinction In Matric

Pakistanis given a level playing field have enormous talents. What we need is a system ..we need institutions which are even when unfair..have some credibility. Having worked with prisoners in Pak brielfy i can say this..many create more criminals!
