PakistaniAbroad, they are good in the sense that you can obviously feel the difference right away between these and regular headphones. The ear pieces kind of envelope your with the huge cushion forming a sound barrier which greatly reduces surrounding ambient sounds. The difference is obvious when you stop listening to music and take them off, everything around you sounds so much more louder (due to its absense all the while).

Im not exactly sure what they mean by Noice Cancelling.. is it the surrounding sounds it cancels, or is it the noise associated with music cd's etc that it cancels. I'm using these with my laptop right now and theres plenty of laptop noise i.e. you can hear the hdd reading writing etc.

Anyway i personally think 300 bucks is too steep a price for any headphone. The most i'd pay for this one is around 100.

The music CD in theory has no extra noise. Noise cancelling headphone have a microphone that detects the surrounding noise, and play it back through the headphones out of phase with the surrounding noise , thus completely eliminating the sound of the surrounding noise.
