dental ones … how much does it hurt? ive just gotten done with my root canal.. it was a great exp.. didnt hurt at all… but the dentist says he wants to put a cap on it to make it safe… i asked him if it will hurt and he grinned… that cant be good
so does a cap hurt more than a root canal (generally speaking)…
anyone gotten em ? how was it? im going to look up the procedure.. i asked him and when he mentioned somethin bout gums… i blanked out…

I watched my mom get her root canal and cap done, she said it didn't hurt at all. For the cap the dentist didn't even have to numb her mouth, you'll feel a slight pinch on your gums when he fits the cap in, that's all.

It doesn't hurt at all. If you've done a root canal already, you won't feel a thing except some pressure when he's putting it on. The root canal itself would have killed any feeling you would have experienced in that particular tooth. I've had a root canal and I have a cap. Don't worry. :)
Oh, one thing I should mention, make sure you get a clear cap ... not one with aluminum/silver lining inside or else it will make your tooth darker than the others.

… i had this image in my mind where there would be lots of blood and the dentist fighting his way into my gum, trying to shove the poor cap in…
MQ.. yup.. getting a clear one … i loved his fillings.. cant even see them… i kept on checkin the mirror and askin him “yo.. when will u do the fillings???”

There is no blood at all. What the dentist might do is chisel down your current tooth, make you wear a temporary one for about a week while he prepares the cap and then put it on you. It doesn't hurt cause the root canal kills the main nerve of the particular tooth, so you won't feel a thing.

alright.. so which one of u thought it a neat joke to tell the khatoon it wont hurt 
just got over with the ordeal of having my caps placed.. and it hurt like ****! remember how in the beginning i said pain is so much better than discomfort.. well tables turned BIG TIME! the whole time i was thinking.. “but how the hell will he fix the caps in my gums???” wel i found out PRETTYY GOOD! it hurt like HELLLLLLLL! there was blood… and so much pressure OH MY GOD! … it feels like my gums have been scraped with freddy cougar’s nails! .. i honestly have new found respect for babies who are teething…
but oh my mighty lord.. u women lie so much my root canal didnt hurt at all… after reading ure replies i went in thinking… oh its gonna be so much fun.. HELL RIGHTI T WAS!

It’s not supposed to hurt. If you had a root canal done on the tooth already, the tooth is considered ‘dead’ and feelingless cause the nerve was removed in the root canal. I don’t know what he did to you, but I have a cap in my front tooth and it didn’t hurt at all … and there certainly wasn’t any need for needles and no blood.

no needle was used Mehnaz.. but to fix the cap in.. didnt ure dentist even use that curved sharp instrument to “pull” ure gum in order to make way (fix) the cap in? my tooth didnt hurt.. it was teh gum scraping that did!
belle: he was so nice… i cant imagine him being mad ever… so timid… i kept on holding his hand to stop him from hurting me so much.. then he got tired of it and gave me a rubber goeey thing to squeeze.. taht took my mind of the pain for a bit

ok.. i went for a check up today … ahem… so!.. it wasnt the caps that hurt.. but him removing plaque … cuz i had two caps put on… one of em didnt hurt.. but the other one did.. so .. that is what he was doing.. cleaning
