Cape May, NJ

Anyone know of good places to stay, things to do etc in Cape May. We are thinking of going whale/dolphin watching this weekend? Anyone ever did that, and is it worth it. Also what is a good company to go with?

Thanks

Re: Cape May, NJ

Afro I dunno about NJ but in MA, they say April/May is too early for whale watching... do your research for that!

We have been to Plymouth, MA for whale watching in September and we spotted only a couple of them... apparently they are more active in peak summer season!!!

also, no matter what you think that you will not get sea sick, make sure you take the dermamine, once you start to feel sick, it's too late to pop in the pill!!! We were on the ship for 5 hours and I was sick for three hours just because I thought I am too good to get sea sick :D

rest, enjoy and report back :-)

Re: Cape May, NJ

Afro - Cape May is great. One place in NJ where you can see the sunrise on one beach and the sunset on another. I have not done whale watching in Cape May but did on the coast of Boston. Isn't it too late in the season to do that anyway. They might have to take you 2-3 hours into the water. (not for the weak stomachs like myself and kids).

I recommend sailing on a sailboat. There is small lighthouse with beautiful views. You find all the water activities.

We didn't stay there but in Atlantic City but it's a nice place - crowded on the summer weekend but great little shops and to walk around. Cleanest beaches on the whole Jersey shore.

Re: Cape May, NJ

Well there are 2 places that offer whale watching right now....and also offer that if no whales/dolphins are seen, then you get to come back for free. I believe the trip I was looking at was 4 hours for combo whales & dolphins or 2 hour for whales. I created this post to seek info from anyone who has been there themselves for any reviews. Hmm. I know a lot of the stuff is better mid season into summer.....but we really wanted to go away this weekend, as it is our anniversary but not enough time to fly anywhere. hmm.

thanks though

Afro - my BIL and SIL went in July for their anniversary last year. They saw some dolphins but did get a little sea sick. I don't know what vendor they used.

Re: Cape May, NJ

im not too worried about sea sickness....the website says they dont go far out into ocean.....rather it circles cape may.....and its a big boat so not too much motion.....dekho....maybe we can go again in summer and just check it out for kicks now...my hubby is adamant on going there..jeeezzz........
im thinking a party boat dinner cruise might be better :)
