Can't seem to find a good foundation :(

I have been trying to find a good foundation for ages…nothing seems to work..I have tried MAC, Lancome Photogenic foundation, Nars and Makeup forever.

I have oily skin, with all of these foundation mentioned above seem too oily…I liked makeup forever foundation but it becomes patchy after awhile. Also with all of these foundations I seem to have that ghostly white face in pictures which I HATE… can someone please help with finding the right foundation for my skin..thanks

Do you cleanse, tone and use a oil-free moisturizer before putting-on your foundation?

Do you use a primer?

Do you use a powder to 'set' the foundation?

Loose powder helps people that have oily skin, it 'soaks-up' the oil.

If the foundation is a good match and your only concern is that your becomes oily, use pre-powdered or regular blotting papers.

Try Bobbi Brown?

The problem might not be the foundation - it might be that you are using the wrong cleaser & moisturizer. You should be using an oil-free moisturizer and try using a mattifying gel on your face to minimize the oil.

The foundation will only look ghostly white in pics if you are using the wrong shade of foundation. Please get it matched by a professional.
I am not sure why you were not satisfied with the MUFE (makeup forever) foundation (were you using the HD one? it's fantastic!) this foundation is pretty much undetectable to the camera yet has unbelieveable coverage. I think you should use different cleanser/moisturizer & give MUFE HD foundation another go.

Gluck

Gina,
I tried Bobby brown this weekend. the lady at the counter matched me to Beige 3.0. it was their skin foundation. Well, although it was completely invisible on me, i feel there was no wow factor to it.
I felt pale and just dull and same as witout foundation.
I loved my Lancome Photogenic in Buff 2. but can find it any more....
What else do you recommend?

Thanks,

Sanna

Re: Can't seem to find a good foundation :(

I went t Bobbie Brown counter the other day and loved their foundation. I will be buying it soon Inshallah.. their concealer is not that good though.

Re: Can't seem to find a good foundation :(

Before you buy any foundation I think you should get the makeup lady at the counter to put some on you so you could see whether it works for you. There's no point in buying something and then not being able to use it. Do you apply loose powder after your foundation? If you don't you could perhaps try this with the existing foundatiolend that you have. If it doesn't work then you could experiment with MAC's moisture blend foundation? The moisture blend comes as a compact.

Good luck!

If it was invisible it’s the right one for you! For the ‘wow’ factor you can always pat-on a small amount of strobe cream

Re: Can't seem to find a good foundation :(

I use maybelline wonder finish...20 cameo...liquid to powder foundation...SPF15-oil free...When applying on face...i mix it with my moisturizer and then apply it...works good for me...love it!:)

Re: Can't seem to find a good foundation :(

^I have always done this and I strongly support mixing the foundation with face moisturizer....it takes the usual edge off the foundation and totally blends into the skin.

I do not use make-up regularly but when ever I do I use MAC's Select SPF 15 foundation, although it is one of the sheer foundation still i mix it with my moisturizer...gives the ultimate smooth look....

But I think if you are looking for a medium or heavy coverage then perhaps this tip might not work as it dilutes the foundation into almost a tinted moisturizer....

@Brain: I have oily skin and I use estee lauder’s foundation and it works great.

Re: Can’t seem to find a good foundation :frowning:

Welllll, according to the conclusion me and @TLK: came up with, at first we thought she should use the pooboy facial that an amazing brand made, called Jamal? But then we decided she’d be better off using a tinted moisturizer seeing as we don’t really like foundations, and us two…I mean we are the Queens of fashion. Proper divas.

Okay Ginakins? :layd:

thank you everyone for helping me :)

@Gina~:

I do cleanse, tone and use a moisturizer before applying foundation, although its not an oil free moisturizer...also i dont use a primer....i do set my foundation with MAC powder
