…For some people who say that if there is a post which they find offensive they should ignore it, should stand in a crowded bazar with a sign that says ‘slap me’ and practice their philosophy. It’s like going outside and seeing someone naked and being asked to ignore it. It’s unsocial, immoral and detrimental and portrays a lousy image from where it’s coming from…Would you portray your family as a drinking family or as a dysfunctional family? I am sure you would want to portray your family as a noble one with sublime values and well founded beliefs. Unless you do come a family with no inherent values…
Gupshup represents Pakistan…It represents its culture, its thinking and in some cases its future…What you put up which can be ‘ignored’ by us us, would not be so easily ‘ignored’ by someone visiting us to see how Pakis are are…If you really want to get to know the people of a country go to their forums…They are so easy to find…Type in Google like ‘Mexican forums’ or ‘Indian forums’…
We should keep this mind…This is like representing your family…This is after all a family site…
Lajwab so any post that nyone finmds inappropriate may be shut down and not be ignored? its a bit tough since various ppl have diff levels of what they consider to be appropriate or inapproporiate.
someone may want to shut all the voice posts saying na mehrams shoud not listen to others voices. someone may say that discussing songs and movies is not right.
in that context what is appropriate? kinda hard to manage innit?
I think what Lajawab is saying that when should bring in some American Journalists in here and chop their heads off. Or bring some French scientists and blow up their posts. Or burn all music and movies in the NWFP section (do we have an NWFP section yet?).
Just like our President we should kiss ass of the Americans who participate here. Good suggestion Lajawab, I will personally take note of it. Thank you.
You have to be a Muslim in order to truly appreciate the value of modesty...But the value of modesty is now alive in only a few blue blood Muslims still hanging on to the old roots and systems...These blue bloods are now rapidly giving way to 'kachra' people with no inherent value system at all...These kachra are Muslims by name only...They are so far removed from Islam that they associate Islam with violence and feel depressed at the mention of becoming a Muslim, or even worse, being asked to pray...They are spiritless entities, confused and torn between what their eyes see and what their hearts see...
Ur roots and culture are linked with more closely to India than the western songs u post all the time.. we share with India a bond which can never be formed with west..
U feel some posts repulsive but we also are offended when u post praises for Osama and alike.. since vast majority of muslims though never like USA foreign policy also dont want to associate themselves with the likes of Osama .. its a forum open for all and we also feel bad when some muslim tries to defend and praise murderes and oppressors..
He may be a murderer in your eyes deges, but to me his guilt has never been proven sufficiently...Until then to me he is a Muslim who is hunted by the west, only because he is a Muslim and I would harbor him and give him support...
As far as roots are concerned, my roots are embedded in Islam...The noblest of roots are those sprung from Islam...The rest is garbage...
As far as openness is concerned, it is alright for you to walk down the streets of Pakistan...But when you do it naked, you are asking for trouble...
Lajawab: Yaar Islam is very cool. You don't need to feel the need to confirm it all the time. It reeks of insecurity. AS far as other roots are concerned. There were already large banyan trees when Islam was a sapling. It's is good that it has grown into a strong banyan of it's own, but is just another tree in God's forest. Peace!

Nice analogy but misplaced...The day you revert CH, you and I will have the same roots...

Perhaps you should take your own medicine to cure these offensive posts.
