I currently have Canon S400 and I wish to upgrade it. I’ve narrowed it down to Canon SD600 and Sony DSC-W50. However, I can’t seem to decide between the two.
I’m looking for:
-fast shutter speed
-good battery life
-something powerful
Sara, I've had a Canon in the past. Therefore, Sony sounds a little attractive for the sake of change, but wouldn't mind sticking to Canon if it's the better one.
aaho, Casio Exlim's shutter speed is a little slow compared to Sony's and Canon's. Try it out before you buy it.
I had a Canon S100 when it first came out in the early 1900's (:)). Then last year I upgraded to the SD450 (SD600 wasn't out yet). And I love it. I love the size and feel and it take stunning pics. Just make sure u get the extreme SD cards as the normal ones limits videos to about a minute.
And this year i went prosumer with the Nikon D70s (i should've waited a few months and gotten the D80, but ah well).
You can get the DSC-W50 for 249 at Staples. And if you're willing to get a slightly older modelof the W50...The W30 is available for 199. Its the exact same specs...6mp..zoom everything. Just a slightly older model. PM me if you want to know how, i'll have to give you a coupon.
I bought w50 for my wife, and it turned out to be a very good one. specially after slow speed capturing of the past models from sony, this is far better.
also bought Casio Exilim , that one with same mega pixals produce less quality pictures, but quick to shoot though.
