Don't own it, but yes it looks good and being that it's one of the most expensive models, there are plenty of cheaper options.. u'd have to define a budget and a set of must-have, good-to-have and don't-care specs to be able to arrive at a shortlist.

Well I kno wnothing about cameras, what they should have and what isn;t needed. I just want something that gives vibrant colours even indoors. Every digital camera I have had pictures taken with gives this weird reddish tint to the skin and for that reason I hate digital cameras. so what will not make me look like red/orange?
can i get one that can make me look like I want to look like :p the above requirement is really what i am mostly focusing on.

Try the Ixus series FF. They have the same sensor for the pics. The G7 is basically this expensive because of the 6x zoom and the DSLR like manual functions. If you dont think you will be using them, go for the latest Ixus series. Awesome allround camera's will almost perfect pcitures under almost all circumstances ( Do I sound like a salesman now? :D ) the G7 is kinda bulky

Actually there was this one HP camera wasn;t there that could slim people down, make em look taller etc etc or was it a software? Not that I am looking for either :halo:
Do u honestly expect me to know what DSLR is DP? I know nothing about cameras except point and shoot preferably when switched on otherwise nothing happens. No seriously I don;t know these technical terms and all. If no one helps me here I will be stuck with buying this over priced g7 cos my brother is my advisor and he just loves buying top of the line stuff especially when the money isn’t his. I will be buying something this weekend hopefully. Will ask the salesman to show me this Ixus model.

If its just point and click go for the SD series, they just came out with SD 1000, which looks good enuff to eat. I have the older SD 400 and love it.

If not do try to buy a model with IS (image stabelizer, stabelizes the hand movement for sharper pictures)
DSLR stands for Digital Single Lens Camera. These are those bulky things semi-/professionals use. Where you need to buy extra lenzes and stuff.
Anyway, do let us know what you bought or will buy

I have it for like an year now and its pretty good camera.. just move the dial to Auto and start shooting... and if u r an expert then u can manual tinker with all the IQ parameters ... plus the tilting LCD is great too... just a little small to my liking.
Picture wise its reasonable... If i have to own a new camera now, i will go with DSC-H5... great picture quality and great LCD.. or if u can wait for DSC-H9.

Haven't used it but looks like a decent camera on paper and from reviews... Appears stylish with some unique features (3.0" 230,000 pixels touch screen LCD and optical image stabilization).
Also look at the Canon SD750 which will be about the same price and similar features sans the touch screen LCD and image stabilization, but slightly slimmer, with a marginally better lens and flash.
Personally speaking, the SONY's only problem is that it doesn't use SD cards which are more common and can be shared among other devices such as a GPS ..

PA thank you very much. I bought it! Its a cute looking thing, haven’t tried it out yet though, hopefully today or over the weekend. I bought it yesterday or I would have considered the other one you speak of, better lense and flash, definitely something I would have prefered. so SD is secure digital card, thanks to google, but I don’t think I have any other device that utilise them, no gps no nothing so hopefully nothing lost there.
