Canon EOS40d or EOS400d

Do we have any proud owners of these cameras? I am thinking of getting one of these digital SLR`s on the assumption of my so far research and going around word that Canon is pretty much the leaders in SLR technology followed by Nikon ofcourse..

Do u know of any other similar specs yet better in any of the competitors? below the 15mp range..

My eyes are on the 400D.. any suggetions? photographers out there?

i'm buying myself a 40D soon, it's a little on the expensive side, but shoulld be good for years to come, its up there with the latest spec and you can't go far wrong with quality and ease of use with the 40D.

there are alternatives thou, such as Sony's A700 or Samsung's new up coming GX20, then there is the recent release of the 450D which yoiu may want to read on.

I bought the *CANON EOS Digital Rebel XTi 400D SLR *last year and no complaints so far. Good results so far.

*go with 40D. The actual 450D specs are quite disappointing for me especially the autofocus and the intolerably small buffer, 450D has one good thing which is the 12MP sensor, but thats not something you should go after from an image technical point of view, unless u are going for large prints.

I would prefer the 40D over 400/450D, because:

The 40D has a much better autofocus system where all sensor points are cross type

6.5 fps speed

a noticably better sensor than the 400D and better noise performance than the 450D sensor will provide.

a much larger buffer. The 450D can only buffer 6 raw files which is not enough. For me the small buffer disqualifies the 450D.

20% smaller raw file size, which means smaller raw files, hence more storage on ur memory cards.

So like I said earlier, either go with 400D and spend more money on some good L series lenses (buy like a tele lense + zoom lense), or go with a good solid 40D with a decent zoom lense, all depending what kind of photography style you want to apply.*

If u are a new beginner then go with 400D or the 450D when it comes out next month : - )

400D KIT with a normal zoom lens should do the job for u.

hmm.. wat are the noticeable difference in common use between the two though.. money wise i can get the 400D .. else ill have to put it on hold for th otherone.. prolly not gona go for a sony.. i already had a sony and now i wana upgrade.. not a pro.. heading there though hopefully

another question!

do u guys use IS lenses with your canons? do u rekon its better havin them in lens or built in .. in cameras?
