cannabis/skunk/weed

My husband says that the people who be in darbars (peer fakeer?) use it and it is perfectly harmless and halal. He is using it at the moment. I am trying to get him to give up. Is there any truth in what he says?

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

What purpose is he using this for? Or is he just simply looking to get high?

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

i dont think its haram its just mukroo, but best check with other religious-practising fellows...

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

its jst an excuse..he is intoxicated to realise the truth the only way out is via u helping him inshallah as far as i know neting that messes with a persons body ie alcohol drugs are haram.Ur brave n it takes a lot of courage to make sum1 see sense esp when it involves drugs wish u best of luck...

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

If he knows that charsies *over at darbaars use it, has he seen them? They look like crap! Those people, if they knew any better wouldn't be wasting their lives on darbaars and would rather go to Masjids... they take such stuff in order to feel "*high" plus give them the feeling that they are experiencing something divine when it is nothing but intoxication / nasha.

These charsies at darbaars also worship the graves after taking weed, etc. is he willing do to the same as well?

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

There are indeed medicinal uses for cannabis although that is in hot dispute, at least in USA. Its a drug and has certain effects on a person. Halaal or Haraam I dont know about.

It increases appetite, it greatly eases nausea and is helpful to cancer patients for these reasons. Its useful also, for anorexia. There;s actually a prescription medicine called Marinol which increases appetite that we may try using for my eldest son who has troubles in this area.

It is also a hallucinogenic and causes fatigue. Many users beleive that using it increases their creativity.

There are lots of people who use it "recreationally" here in USA (esp in california lol!).

These things aside, its illegal to have it and to use it. It takes months to leave your system so when you're offered a job and are sent for drug testing, you;d have to be "clean" of it for 2 to 3 months.

Most say that it is not addictive. It does cause tar buildup on the lungs when smoked just like cigarrettes do.

These are the things I can tell you about it. The rest is up to you to decide for yourself as to whether its worth it to try to "adjust" your loved one!

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

some scholars in morocco allow smoking of weed. otherwise it has been declared unlawful just as alcohol is haraam.

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

You know just as a side issue on the same topic....when I went over there, we went up north of Isl. and it was growing wild ALL OVER the place. No one seemed interested in it except for the goats who chewed on it voraciously. (Happy goats over there methinks lol!) anyway. You'd NEVER see that over here. I was just interested because there were FIELDS of it and it was just left alone. It was like OMG!!! where are the police, why arent they roping off the area and burning it down. But no one ever went near it, like they maybe didnt know what it was or something.

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

Oh yeah…Isloo is notorious for that. I think people end up getting high off the fumes of it. Or they got harder drugs. who knows?

:cb: @ happy goats

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

:D Those goats could become famous...you know those TV ads about "Happy cows come from california"??? They are my boys favorite commercials.

Pak could put those ads to shame with their "happy goats" lol!!

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

There is a hadeeth if i remember correctly that forbids anything which has the potential to make you high...so even if certain things dont intoxicate you the fact that they have the potential to makes them forbidden...
As for scholars in Morocco making it halal...thats to be expected...The north of Morocco is renowned for its hash...it even has tourists cos of its hash so naturally scholars who may wanna make a bit of cash on the side may just turn halal into haram for a bit...
Just as a side not...a random weed fact...spanish people call their weed paki black...

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

well you can sleep much better, you have good long lasting time with partner, you eat good, you wake up fresh, you enjoy star wars like a gazillion times better, you can walk for 5 minutes and feel like it was hours. list goes on and on. :)

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

Lots of studies on this topic. Overall it isnt good for the brain and the lungs.

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

just cuz people in darbars use it, it doesnt make it halal.

as far as I know, cannabis like all other drugs used for getting a "high" are haram. they do harm to the body....and those starting on cannabis usually move onto stronger/"harder" drugs, because the cannabis is not having the same effect anymore...so they need something stronger...they keep moving up and up in the drugs ladder....until they have totally messed up their own lives as well as their families.

I suggest you get him to stop using it....drug addicts will use any excuse they can to make others think that what they're doing is ok....a change in environment/lifestyle is usually a good way to stop....

Re: cannabis/skunk/weed

there are some pros and cons to using it.....but it is haram no matter how u look at it.
