Hormones can also be used for the treatment of cancer, but they're mainly used to stop the growth of tumour rather than kill the tumour. They're mainly used for prostate, breast and thyroid cancers.
And as has been pointed out by others, the treatment outcomes rely heavily on the stage of disease.
Also the usefullness of certain treatments is only if the organ/tissue with the cancer will react to the treatment. For example, giving hormone treatment to a cancer that is not hormone responsive is pointless.
