Cancelling home insurance

I wanted to combine my home and auto insurance to get the discount. My home insurance is expiring in August 2007 but I want to terminate it now. I will have to pay a premium as discharge fee, which I don’t mind. But I wanted to know if there could be an impact on my insurance history (if there is such a thing), I don’t have any claims, its just that for discount I wanna combine it with my auto insurance company.

Any ideas or experience?

There shouldn't be, I remember my dad did it and it went pretty smoothly. I don't know about canada.

Re: Cancelling home insurance

No penelty. Usually the people with whom you are getting the new insurance from take care of it all.

Re: Cancelling home insurance

I don;t think there is even supposed to be a penalty for cancelling your policy. You should get a refund for the remaining months till aug. There is certainly no negative impact on your insurance history. As AJ said your new insurance company should take care of the transition.
