so the travel agency in Toronto told us there is no refund on the tickets. This was a return ticket bought in Toronto. My parents cannot come back to Toronto as yet so we decided to extend the date, but travel agent told us extending the flight costs almost 695 which equals to almost buying a new one ticket which is like 800. So most likely they will be cancelled with no refunds.
I already spoke with Etihad airline directly and they told me they cannot help, as these were discounted tickets so I should only deal with my travel agent.
What can I do with these tickets? this was for two people each return ticket costs 1600. This is for end of April which is not too far.
Re: Canceling a flight with Etihad from Karachi to Toronto
well isnt it better to get the ticket cancelled and use them on a later date? thts what my mom did.. she cancelled the ticket and the balance remained and re-purchased her ticket..
Re: Canceling a flight with Etihad from Karachi to Toronto
mysticalrain how did you use them for later date? It is $695 to extend the date or re-use them on another date. So almost same price as buying a new ticket.
Re: Canceling a flight with Etihad from Karachi to Toronto
Not just Itehad but all International carriers offer these discounted tickets with further discounts offered if the buyer is definate about dates. These lowest possible fare is offered with the clause that these tickets are non refundable, cannot be rescheduled and are non trasferable. Sorry for the wasted money but there is nothing could be done at this point.
Re: Canceling a flight with Etihad from Karachi to Toronto
The ticket that she was purchasing was costing her less than what she had to pay for them to change the dates.. so she went ahead and paid less for the new ticket and had a balance remainder for the un-used one-way ticket from Lahore - Toronto. She did this abt 2 yrs ago though.. so maybe the rules/ pricing have changed.. but it was do-able!

my god that sucks :(
Are these tickets transferrable? Like If someone wants to use them and I can sell them for half of the cost?
Re: Canceling a flight with Etihad from Karachi to Toronto
Nope....Non Transferable...........................I know its awful, but thats how these airlines have found new channels to generate revenue and put a stop to rescheduling, cuz it was being abused and now, people in real need are suffering.

Re: Canceling a flight with Etihad from Karachi to Toronto
Jal_Pari: I'm not defending the travel agent or airline here, but the whole point of low fare tickets is, that they are not changeable/transferrable. That's why they are so much cheaper than full fare tickets, which allow you to change and transfer all you want. Flexibility comes at a price though.
