I just heard a very disturbing news regarding my little sister in pakistan. she is a PAF wife and unfortunately her hubby has been retired. the news was unexpected as he was up for promotion and was stationed in peshawar. According to her the PAF and pakistani military is going through some internal upheaval and in the recent month such unexpected forced retirements have been common. My sisters family is in stress and faces uncertainty. I am hoping that someone here GS will be able to answer some question which might be able to help her.
I chose to ask some immigration question here hoping that it might get more attention and response in All Views.
I want to know how easy it is to get immigration for either canada or australia from pakistan for a woman with minor children as dependent? specially if there isnt anyone else in these countries from her family, you know sponsorship issues.
Also which country seems to be more lenient with immigrants and helps with initial transition and helps with government housing and such?
If government housing is provided how safe are they? are they in gang neighborhoods or something like that.
How easy it is to find a job for a electronic engineer with masters and degree in project management?
I would like any help you can offer. I will be researching the immigration sites for the 2 countries myself but thought that any personal experiences or info from any of you might be helpful too. Thanks in advance for all your help
If they apply today they can get a PR in a years time. I m not sure abt the govt housing. Dont know any pakistani/desi living in govt housing etc. Getting a job is not that hard. One of my friend got a job with Aussie Army. He had B.Sc in communication systems from pakistan.
Quite odd... Should not momeens look for immigration to momeen countries? Instead of Kaffir/secular countries? How about some bedouin country or the other?
Lafanter, thanks so much i have passed the info along. Your friend found a job in Aussie army which is wonderful. I thought that info might be a bit appealing to my bro-in-law a PAF pilot/admin himself. My sister herself was from the first batch of lady engineers in PAF so thought it might interest her too. I have a feeling that it might be easier to find jobs and settle in Australia compared to canada somehow. But obviously, we would all prefer canada practically our backyard. thanks again.
and for everyone else please keep the info coming. It will be greatly appreciated.
One of my students who was in the US on a student visa from Latvia recently migrated to Australia, and it seemed to be a fairly straightforward process. I do see that they have an age limit of 45.
I seriously doubt that your sister will be able to find government housing in any country that she would migrate to. Most immigrants need to prove that they are able to support themselves, and are not qualified to take any government resources at least for the first few years. Starting a life in either of these countries is not an easy option for people who are upper middle class or upper class in Pakistan. My sister-in-law found that the daily grind in Canada was overwhelming and ended up going back.
I would suggest they exhaust all of their options in Pakistan first.
