Canadian troops sickened by Afghan rape

OTTAWA, June 16 (UPI) – A growing number of Canadian soldiers are suffering after witnessing Afghan boys being raped by Afghan soldiers, the Toronto Star reported Monday. Several military chaplains told the newspaper they had counseled veterans returning from combat in Afghanistan for severe post traumatic stress disorder and their reports weren’t being dealt with by the Canadian military.
On Saturday, the Star reported a Canadian corporal gave closed-door parliamentary testimony about a boy’s rape he witnessed in 2006 and the visible signs of rape trauma.
The Liberal critic for national defense in Ottawa said he has asked party permission to query Foreign Affairs Minister David Emerson about the sex-abuse allegations and said the soldiers’ allegations should have resulted in at least a diplomatic note to the Afghan government.
“Anybody who says this is about cultural differences should have their head examined,” Emerson told the Star.

Similar incidents, Ladies and Gentlemen! are the very thing that brought the Taliban to power and gave Mullah Omar a hero’s rise. While the war is waged on extremists, it is sad to see that the old ways are allowed to thrive in the midst of all this.

Isn’t this like deja vu? Another Taliban regime waiting to happen.

And written in President Pervez Musharraf’s book, In the Line of Fire, he said that while Mullah Omar was a Molvi in a village, he and some of his friends could not tolerate the abuse that a Mujahideen Commander and his gangsters were conflicting to a boy in the vicinity. As a result, Mullah Omar and his friends decided to attack the much-feared Commander and kill him alongside some of the Commander’s friends. This action resulted in making Mullah Omar a hero over night. Soon after, thousands of Taliban warriors pledged their allegiance to Mullah Omar in the coming weeks and months.

Some say it was a lady who came to complain to him about her daughter’s rape, and she came in the search of quick justice. And Mullah Omar delivered, making him popular among the community, which then earned him the full control of his province under the, then Govt. accord.

It is extremely sad to see this kind of thing happen. :frowning: Where is the liberation? And WHAT liberation?

And to outright make matters worse, Canadian troops have been told to not interfere and instead turn a blind eye to the incidents of rape. Why? Is there no humanity left?

Here’s an excerpt from the orginial article:

“Canadian soldiers serving in Afghanistan have been ordered by commanding officers “to ignore” incidents of sexual assault among the civilian population, says a military chaplain who counsels troops returning home with post-traumatic stress disorder.”

Re: Canadian troops sickened by Afghan rape

I think their PTSD is not only related to this rape story but much more. They are dumped into a war they don't want to fight by their govt. They are fighting and killing in remote areas of Afghanistan, where as Afghanistan does not pose a direct threat to Canada.
